When I run a speed check on my Apple iPhone, I get 279 Mbps on the first floor.  The SBG7400AC2 is on second floor.

When in the room with the modem, I get as high as 650 Mbps.

Can I turn off the Wi-Fi on the modem, maintain the cable input and use another device for Wi-Fi with a device on second floor and another on first floor.  I have an option of the first floor being hard wired if needed.  This is where I use laptop and stream on main TV.

Thanks.

You can. What I’d do through is pickup a mesh system like the w130. You can put the SBG in modem only/bridge mode and then connect the mesh system to it. they can work with a wired backhaul and then give you multiple access points.
