can not connext to remote work server

Have a SBG 8300 gateway and I am unable to connect to my work server. Internet connection is fine. I unfortunately have basically no understanding of how this works. My IT person says it’s a xfinity problem, xfinity says it’s a modem problem. Which I believe because I can log on everywhere but home.

Netextender? From sonicwall? its a vpn software. 

Did you check with them if there’s any specific ports or settings needed to be opened?

You didn’t really give us much to go off. How do you log into your remote work server? 

What service are you using? 

Are you using a vpn?

I use netextender, but when I enter my ID and password it spools for about 3 minutes and then gives me the message error server is not reachable.  My IT guy says there is no route to the ip address 173.163.157.233.  I have xfinity internet service and I have no problems with the internet. I can also log on to the netextender when I am not using my home internet.
