In my area, Spectrum just upgrade their cable to “symmetrical” (sometimes called “full duplex”) signaling.  Even though they list the SBG8300 as a supported product, they basically said “tough”.

Is there a firmware upgrade available that will make the the SBG8300 work on a symmetrical network ?

the problem with that is both arris would have to have it retested and then spectrum would have to pay to have it certified. It costs a significant amount for a device thats 2 generations behind. I highly doubt any ISP or manufacturer is going to pay to recertify it.

Could you please confirm your subscribed speed plan? Additionally, let us know if you were able to activate the device through your Internet Service Provider. If activation is complete, are you able to access the internet?

Good point !

Spectrum “gave” me a modem.  I added a Netgear Nighthawk RAX36.  Everything is working.

Even though Spectrum second level support admitted that their upgrade to “symmetrical signaling” caused my SBG8300 to stop working, with no warning, and it is still listed on their website as “supported”, they only offered me $20 when I was “out of pocket” about $70.
