                              SBG8300 is a gateway which is the combination of modem and router, Ethernet port on the modem will be activated once the modem registered and added to your internet service provider you can access internet from the ethernet port by connecting any device to the modem directly by hardwire, so since this is just a ethernet connection it wont get pop up on the wifi network list so you can check only for wifi on the network list.
