I'm trying to install a Swann outdoor security camera and I'm having problems. the instructions state that I need 2.4GHz, is my modem/router 2.4ghz capable?

yes it is. Its a dual band with 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
One thing to check is some apps struggle if the phone is on 5ghz while trying to install a 2.4ghz device. so just check to make sure the phone you’re installing with is on the 2.4ghz band.
