I currently run a SBG8300, and I wanted to add some more range to my network.  I purchased a combo that come with an A21 and W11.  I tried using the app, but when I go through all the screens to log in after saying I’m already activated, I get an error code of 0000-1612.  Any way I can get around this?

I can connect to the modem with a desktop using the 192.168 etc, but I can’t find anywhere to add the A21.

It looks like you're using the W122 system, which includes a primary W21 router and a W11 extender.

To begin, please ensure that your SBG8300 modem has an active internet connection. The best way to confirm this is by directly connecting a computer to the modem using an Ethernet cable and checking for internet access.

Next, connect an Ethernet cable from the SBG8300 modem to the WAN port on the W21 router. After making this connection, restart the main router. It's also recommended to reinstall the setup app and start the configuration process from scratch.

The simplest way and more stable is to connect it to the modem/router via wired. Then add it using your laptop software not the surfboard app which is worthless and will mess up the quality of your network. I was just checking back to see if there was any better improvements to the app and from what I can tell/see it still is worthless. They have a great product I have used there products for, many, many, years; but they need to find a good app developer.  I build my own desktops and have built my own server and up graded my laptop in the past. I used to work “IT, System Administrator” as a collateral duty in the military or as others may say a side job. I got stuck with it because I knew more about computers than most of the people who it was their job specialty; but I really didn’t mind.
Good luck, 👍

Every one who is having any problems with their arris surfboards any model or form; save yourself a lot of pain and suffering, and going bald. Reset your arris surfboard board back to factory settings, and this should also help the person who says someone changed the login (Just quick reminder passwords: all letters are case sensitive and some user names are also case sensitive).  A lot of you are saying “no way” (putting it nicely) it will take forever to start over.

This is the best way to get rid of all of the problems, the ones that was started because of the awful app (live and learn) and the problems you created trying to fix the problem that you didn’t know, was created because of the app.

Yes, you can find a work around, I did; but it only lasted until I needed to add another item or feature, then back to the drawing board. The work around no longer worked. Ya, so, best thing to do is bite the bullet and chalk it up, as a lesson in learning. Now that you are reset and are ready to start over. Get rid of that app!!

I cannot speak for the microsoft app, if there is one, but their app for apple is horrible. So, I would suggest; do not to use any of their apps. again this is just a suggestion. It is your net, not mine. Also, a side note; you do not need to use a desktop or laptop to install, like it states you have to. Either way I had to call my cable provider to get modem/router registered, because thats just how they did and still do things and you have to call any if this is a first time switch from theirs to yours; to make sure they remove the fee for using theirs.

Registration of your modems/routers mac address is the main reason for using the desktop, which would be hooked up to the internet via cable line and ethernet.

I normally do not do much in the line of posting, but pretty much all of the complaints I am seeing can be solved by reset to factory, and getting rid of the app.

I worked a call center, and most likely arris’s call centers are probably along the same lines as what you will experience when you call. They will have or the way ours was set up, is, they ask you a question, you answer, they follow the schematic, to the next question, etc. Then eventually it will supposedly will tell you what the problem is and how to fix it. No, computer knowledge required at all to do the job. In the end you most likely will get an apology and a saying, as to, it appears there is nothing wrong with the arris surfboard, have you called your internet provider, if so, you might want to try the tech support for your operating system (OS). Also, you may want to see if you have any new updates to see if you need to update the OS to cover the newer model modems/routers drivers.

This has actually happened to me once. The OS did not have the updated drivers which was needed; this can happen; since, manufacturers no longer include a copy of the drivers anymore.

Sorry this turned out to be so long. Hopefully it will help some users. Have a great day. 😎
