SBG8300 Access to router and wifi without cable

I am no longer using this modem but want to use the wifi? I have connection to the router but not the ability to login into it and change wifi name and password. I performed factory reset and can login to the default wifi setting but can’t access 192.168.0.1. Tried surfboard app and I get no connectivity to wireless Gateway

    The SBG8300 is a cable modem. 

    It has a modem only mode (bridge) or standard modem/router modem. But it doesn’t have an access point mode. 

    Current setup: Netgear CM3000-->Netgear RBE973S-->2.5gig tp-link switch, Xfinity 2.4gig/350mbps

    What i ended up doing is using my new cable feed to get into the router change the wifi and password. Now the router works as a regular router without cable getting the wifi signal via ethernet cable. There should be a way to access the router or turn the bridge off
