I just noticed my new SBG8300 has a setting on Ethernet port 4 to turn on “WAN over Ethernet.”  Does this mean I could connect this to a second router (elsewhere in the house) and connect to it as a separate network with internet connection?

Hello MrMarkSH

SBG8300  is a gateway which is the combination of modem and router and its having multiple ethernet port to access direct connection and there is no option to use the ethernet port as WAN port, there is no such option available on the modem setting or GUI. So if you wan to connect separate router to SBG8300 you need to enable bridge mode on the modem GUI.
