I have a SBG8300-9D65 and I have agreement with Xfinity for 1Gbps, so I should expect at least 800Mbps but I’m getting less than 100Mbps.

This used to work well always over 650Mbps… suddenly I’m having this slow speed.

Xfinity tech came to my home and tested the cable from the outside connection box to the connector inside my home, he said it is good, up to 1.4Gbps…

My modem is on warranty until March 2025.

Should I request a RMA? or there is a tech support for troubleshooting?

Any firmware update that I could apply? and how?

Xfinity approved the SBG8300 for their Internet speed up to 800 Mbps.  You’ll need to replace it with a modem/router that is compatible with your 1 Gbps speed that’s on their list.

How are you testing the speeds?

Have you checked to see if you’re connecting at gigabit speeds to the router versus 100mbps connection?

Usually when I see speeds drop to “around 100mbps” thats one of the first things I check

I’m totally aware my modem is not 1GB, I’m not expecting to see 900Mbps but I’m expecting to see 600Mbps to 800Mbps… and no less than 100Mbps.

Laptop is connected with wire and NIC 1G

I get that its wired in and the laptop has a 1 gig port, but have you actually checked the laptop and/or router to see if its connecting at gigabit speeds? I’ve seen sketchy cables not connect at gigabit speeds
