I own a G34 and when I try to connect a device with WPS that device always connects to the 2.4ghz frequency. How do I use the WPS function so that my device connects to the 5ghz wifi not the 2.4ghz.

how do you update this modem, where can you find the update files, because you can't update it inside the surfboard central app , the only reason I'm asking because the upload speed is good and the download speed is bad, we upgrade to 500 with cox, we had 250 before it was fine, sometimes it can disconnect, i had it for a week only.

Placement of Modem/Router

I am setting up a mesh network in my house to use primarily for music streaming and routine web processes and email. With respect to my audio system the best location for the modem and primary router would be in the basement just below my stereo gear. I realize that the standard guidance is not to place the modem router in the basement; but again that would be the best spot for my audio. I plan to have satellite routers on the first and second floors of the house. Has anyone set things up this way? Has it worked well?

ubuntu wifi problems with g36

I have several devices connected to my new g36 modem/router . my windows and generis devices are fine. My multiple ubuntu devices wont stay connected to the internet. My ubuntu devices are my most used devices. If I cant get reliable wifi to those devices this unit is oing back to amazon. Cat 5 connections are great. But wifi with ubuntu devices sucks. If I cant solve this problem by monday 10/29 this unit will be returned. I have no time to waste fixing your software issues. No help so far and you havevbterrible support system. Surfboard G36 with Comcast/Xfinity 2 Gbps Service

I recently purchased a G36 with the intention of eliminating Comcast’s rental XB8 modem at $15 per month. Comcast recommended the G36 as a DOCSIS 3.1 cable compatible modem with download speeds up to 4 Gbps. I have 2 Gbps service from Comcast. I did the install of the G36 and I’m only getting 1.2 Gbps maximum wired out of this modem despite Comcast showing 2 Gbps coming out of their coax cable.I spoke to Arris Tech Support who have been very helpful and they told me my modem was not commissioned correctly by Comcast. Comcast field tech is trying to tell me that my Surfboard G36 is correctly commissioned for 2 Gbps. How can I prove to Comcast that the G36 hasn’t been commissioned correctly?

I upgraded my Comcast / Xfinity speed to 1000 GBPS but my speed test only shows up to 313MBPS. I tried and got the same result when tethered on WAN and on WIFI I’ve tried restarting the modem and router both from Xfinity’s app and power cycling the modem / router. Still no change. I called Comcast/Xfinity and they said I need to lease their latest router / modem for $15/month. Is there no other way to get close to the 1 GBPS speed that I paid for?

Replaced my router with another surfboard C 34. I think it finds it every time I try to log into it. It says failed. I have unplugged it. I have reset the router I have added seven other devices. I can’t get the printer on there.

I have bought the arris sb6183. I noticed the box does not come with a password for it. Will I be able to access the internet with this if I connect it to wall with coaxial cable plug in power and connect Ethernet to computer and typing in the code starting with 192. or is this setup incomplete?

g54. i lose internet then it comes back on.

I have the arris g54 model and the internet keeps cutting out. I will have connection then will lose connection, then it will come back. Solid blue light, then blinking green, then solid blue. I've reset the modem numerous times, contacted xfinity and nothing works.

Can't login to modem on SVG2482ac

For the SVG2482AC unit I am trying to turn off the onboard wifi. I plug into it with a cable, check IPconfig and see 10.0.0.1 as the gateway but I cannot log in with either Edge or Firefox. Just spins, never prompts for credentials. This wifi seems to be conflicting with my already existing wifi system

Hi. I have been using a streaming service called Xtreme HD IPTV for about 6 months now with no issues until the past few days where I cant seem to get any service on on it. They are saying it an issues with my ISP ( Xfinity) but when i call them they tell me its and ARRIS issue and that Xfiniity cant help. The support team is telling me to disable an xFI advance security.. but i have no clue how to do this. Any help for resolution on this is greatly appreciated.

SB6183 isn't connecting through ethernet to my PC

My PC isn't receiving an internet connection from my surfboard modem. I talked to Xfinity and there's no issues on their side. All the lights are the colors they are supposed to be. (Green blue blue green) but I'm getting no internet through the ethernet cable. I've tried several cables as well and it hasn't helped. Everything is plugged in correctly as well. I've tried resetting the PC numerous times and the modem as well. I've tried turning my firewall off and that doesn't work either. I can't think of anything else I can possibly do. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

SBG10 restarting and intermittent internet connection

We bought this modem about two years ago. In June 2023 (about ten months after we bought it) the problem started. We would lose connection and then it would slowly come back. Since it was in warranty, I contacted customer service and they sent me a replacement. While I waited for the replacement to come, I borrowed an old Motorola modem from a friend. It worked fine, so I didn’t bother using the replacement Arris.We moved some things around this past weekend so I figured I’d put the replacement Arris into use. It (the fresh out of the box Arris) seems to be having the same issue as the one it replaced. This makes me think it was probably not a mechanical error.I took a video of the lights on the modem so that I could describe it in this forum. When the modem's working properly, there are five lights lit, but the second from the bottom, which I think is for the WiFi, flickers repeatedly. When we lose the bottom two lights, then 3 seconds later we lose the top three lights, so that all t

G34 Internet in & out

I bought a refurbished G34 modem on Amazon in February this year and had been awesome untill a week ago or so it will flash orange then green then blue then green and then solid blue and it was just once a day for a couple of days then several times a day for about 2 days and now for the past few days it does that's about 2 to 3 times an hour every few hours or so and wifi and anything with a lan cable in it will not have Internet during that process any advice or help would be much appreciated I'm assuming I need a new modem but thought I would try this first

XFINITY blame my modem to the slow speed on SBG8300

I have a SBG8300-9D65 and I have agreement with Xfinity for 1Gbps, so I should expect at least 800Mbps but I’m getting less than 100Mbps.This used to work well always over 650Mbps… suddenly I’m having this slow speed.Xfinity tech came to my home and tested the cable from the outside connection box to the connector inside my home, he said it is good, up to 1.4Gbps…My modem is on warranty until March 2025.Should I request a RMA? or there is a tech support for troubleshooting?Any firmware update that I could apply? and how?

S33 - No internet on Wired Connection

I have Xfinity internet using my own S33 modem and a 6g router. My wife has concerns about emf and wants to turn off the wireless router at night. I am up way before her and need to have internet access as I often work from home. I want to be able to use a hardwired connection to my home office computer while the wireless router is turned off. I thought I could use the second (bottom) modem port, but apparently cannot. I tried simply unplugging the router from modem and plugging the ethernet cable into that modem port, but it doesn’t work either. What is the best way to do this?

The enterprise-customized router firmware is difficult to use, and the user lacks permissions; it’s practically a half-finished product.

The company uses a Zyxel EX5501 (as labeled), but it's running Arris firmware (likely a dreadful carrier-customized version), which is extremely difficult to use. It doesn’t allow changing the WiFi name or password, only functions as an AP, can’t assign IP addresses, and the backend is very hard to access—I had to search through a ton of resources online just to get in. Worst of all, the upgrade page only allows firmware uploads smaller than 8MB. This isn’t a half-finished product; it’s junk. How can I flash it back to the original Zyxel firmware?

Arris G54 Feedback/Performance

I’ve been using the Arris G54 and the Netgear RBE973S to test WIFI 7 and just wanted to provide some feedback on how the Arris performs so far. Its not a fair comparison as the Netgear has a few extra features/performance specs. Overall, its performance has been excellent. I have a 3200sq ft home and with it centrally located, it covers the whole home. I’m running around 60+ devices overall (40+ wireless) and I’ve had no issues or bandwidth concerns. I do have all but 1 of my 4k tv’s hardwired in because I prefer that for streaming. I do have the 10g port connected through a 2.5gig tp-link switch and it doesn’t have any issues saturating it. While the Netgear is faster on the peripheral (because of the satellites), the Arris keeps up in closer range and even will beat it on some tests. I’ve been able to saturate my multi-gig speeds over wireless. So if you have a mid-sided home, this should cover it great if you centrally locate it. What I like: I like having the extra features in the
