The user interface in surfboard central is very confusing.  Why does it spout gibberish error messages?  Can you change the error codes to more helpful error messages?  If I am already connected to the wifi, why can’t it detect that?  Your support staff directed me to uninstall the app.   What do they know that you don’t?  What does the code 0000-1612 mean?  This app is junk.

This error indicates that the app is having issues communicating with your device. This can happen for a reasons, but there are a couple common causes for this error:

The app may be outdated and needs to be updated to the newest version.

If the app is on the newest version, you may have customized the GUI credentials for your connected gateway. To use the app to manage the gateway, you have to use the credentials supplied by the app and not customize the GUI credentials or it will break access for the app.

To resolve this, you have to factory reset the gateway, then uninstall and reinstall the app so you can start fresh. Once you complete onboarding with the app, it will automatically provide a secure password for GUI access. You can use that password or the link in the app to access the GUI -- just make sure you don’t customize the GUI login as it will break app access.
