I have started to use ProtonVPN, and would like to know whether or not the Surfboard SVG2482AC supports installing a VPN directly onto it? If so, are there any resources that can walk me, a complete newbie when it comes to networking thru correctly installing and setting it up?

There is no option to install VPN on the modem directly no such configuration available on SVG2482AC. You can only install and use VPN only on the client device like the computer or laptop etc.
