Is there an answer to a printer (Brother HL-2350DW)  that must be 2.4  and my new Arris SBG 10 router that is dual 2.4 and 5.0 (nota mesh network)?  Take the Arris back and pay rent on the Spectrum?

Yes, SBG10 is a dual band router , to connect the printer (Brother HL-2350DW)  make sure that you are able to see the SBG10 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network on the printer (Wi-Fi Settings) than connect it by typing the  correct Wi-Fi password .

If you are facing any issues please change the security mode from the default : WPA2-PSK (AES)(Recommended) to WPA/WPA2-PSK(TKIP/AES) Most Compatible also try changing the Wi-Fi channels to either of 1/6/11 (try all three of them)

Please check the below link to change the Wi-Fi Channels :
