I have bought the arris sb6183. I noticed the box does not come with a password for it. Will I be able to access the internet with this if I connect it to wall with coaxial cable plug in power and connect Ethernet to computer and typing in the code starting with 192. or is this setup incomplete?

Best answer by SURFboard Moderator

SB6183 is the cable modem and there is no inbuilt Wi-Fi feature in it. It will work only through hardwired connection through ethernet cable.

If you are preferring for Wi-Fi internet, I would suggest connecting router with it.

Surfboard moderator is correct. You should have a router after the modem and not directly connect your pc to the modem. without a router there isn’t any type of firewall to protect your PC.
