I am using an SB6183. Xfinity said I could use it, so I bought it to save some money.

Xfinity app recognizes that I’m using it, and services are activated. I can get online via the ethernet cable, but cannot connect wirelessly. When I tried to activate the surfboard via the app, it was not listed. Rather, a link to an older app was suggested for me to download. This app is not available on my phone because the app is too outdated.

Why can’t I activate it via a website browser?

frustrated. Just want to connect my phone and xbox to my home internet.

SB6183 is the cable modem, it will work only through direct connection through ethernet cable since there is no inbuilt Wi-Fi feature in it. If you are looking for the Wi-Fi internet, I would suggest connecting the router with the modem through ethernet cable to access the Wi-Fi internet.
