Brightness of LED's SB6190

I’m stuck using my old SB6141 for now since I haven’t been able to provision my new SB8200 yet.

If I type 192.168.100.1 in the address bar of Firefox it brings up the gateway.

Under the configuration tab there are settings one of which is to enable or disable the front network lights.

There is also a setting to enable  DHCP Server.

I can’t reach any of this on my SB8200 even after a hard reset with the coax cable removed.

Chatting with ISP they said give them the SB8200 MAC and hook up the coax there is no problem.

Hour later still no connection so I called back and gave them my old SB6141 MAC to reprovision.  Asked tech what he saw and he said Walled Garden errors.

They said my old SB6141 had lost support and couldn’t be reprovisioned but I pulled the firmware revision from the help tab and explained I did not do a hard reset on the 6141 just the 8200.  The original 2013 firmware would not need the  2019 firmware push that was discontinued in 2021.  When they reprovisioned the MAC for the old 6141 the upload speed issue resolved.

Nobody in this help forum seems to know if a hard reset always allows access to the gateway of an SB8200 unless there is a hardware failure such as damaged chips?

Over on ARS or Toms hardware forums there may be some enthusiasts that have probed the JTAG TAP and know its there on the SB8200 for a reason.  They usually program the chips by socketing them prior to assembly.  To many of these “bricked modem” reports, they can’t all be chip failures that can’t be remedied.

I don’t have IPV6 checked in my Windows network connection but that wouldn’t effect the ethernet link with the coax disconnected would it?  

I’m about ready to give up, I can’t send back the 8200 unless it has hardware failure issues and I’m not going to buy a new modem that can be easily bricked with no recovery available except through the JTAG. 

Some black electric tape works pretty well if access it doesn’t work. I’ve done that a few times
