T25 xfinity says Arris must turn on bridge mode

Forum|alt.badge.img

Xfinity told me to call Arris. T25 I bought and trying to pair with Nighthawk router RS100. Xfinity said Arris needs to activate bridge mode on my T25 modem. Can't I do that myself? And how do I do that?I have no internet access right now so need to use my phone. Missed 2 days of work coz of internet connection.

The T25 is a cable modem only, which means it does not have built-in Wi-Fi or router features.

So when people mention “bridge mode,” they’re usually referring to disabling the router functions like the DHCP server. However, since the T25 is just a modem, it doesn’t have a DHCP server or any router settings to disable.

  1. Activate the modem through your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  2. Once activated, connect a computer directly to the modem using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Check if the internet connection works.
  4. If it does, connect the Ethernet cable to your router.
  5. Then, power cycle both the modem and the router (turn them off and back on).
  6. If your router is brand new, you may need to set it up before it can provide internet access.

Thanks.  I found out that Xfinity CSR gave me bad advice and I didn’t need to bridge mode at all.  I ended up getting talking to an Arris support person and got it all figured out, which was pretty much what you suggested. It helped to get some hand holding setting up my own equipment as I’ve never had to do this before being spoiled with ATT’s two in one. I have learned A LOT!
