Hi,

I’m an IT consultant trying to set up a customers Arris Surfboard G34. The admin console also refers to it as SB8200.

I’m at home and can’t “Activate” the cable modem to get it on the Internet which is a requirement to using the setup app. So, I want to use the convention local web interface, only I can’t figure out how to get in for the first time.

The included instructions say to use “admin” as the user ID and that the password will be “customized during first time web GUI access” This does not appear to be working.

I've tried using

admin/admin

admin/password

amin/last 8 digits of serial #

Nothing lets me in.

I have tried using the reset button to reset to factory defaults but it won’t auto configure the password even then the first time I bring up the console on 192.168.0.1.

Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE:

After switching computer and browser I was able to set a password and log in. I was using an android tablet and Chrome. Perhaps something was not compatible.

Using Windows 10 I had nothing but trouble setting up my Arris.  I finally gave up and returned it to the store-- and I’m a professional consultant with 35 years experience. The Arris website is out of date, they don’t answer support requests, and their local configuration software is years out of date and does not match their current hardware.    In my experience Arris is a zero-support company.
