My network name keeps changing over the last week, without me doing anything. It changes back to an old name or all of a sudden it has a number 2 at the end of the name. Why? I have a G34 WiFi modem.

Since you cannot access the internet via Wi-Fi while the VPN is enabled, I recommend following the instructions provided in the link below.

If the modem was factory reset, all the customizations would be changed to default settings which is at the bottom of the modem.

Does someone else have access?
Maybe it was reset or the combined ssid’s was disabled

I was on my PC, and my wireless icon showed connected to the internet, but I couldn’t turn on my VPN, and my windows security update did not work, and the message said that it cannot connect to my network. I then hovered my mouse over the wireless icon and I discovered that there was the number 2 right behind my network name. That’s why my VPN did not start….it didn’t recognize the name. I rebooted the modem and my PC twice , before it came up with the correct name. I’m just wondering why this happens.
