Modem admin still cannot be reached, even on Safari… and it’s now 2025. What is going on?

Typically, you may see a pop-up stating that “the version of Chrome is unsupported.” You can safely ignore this message by selecting Continue.

If the issue persists even after dismissing the pop-up, I recommend performing a factory reset on the modem and then trying again.

Since you're unable to log in to the modem’s web portal (192.168.0.1), I recommend trying a different browser and device for access.

Also, ensure that the device you're using is not a work/official device with a VPN enabled.

If you're still unable to access the portal after these steps, try connecting to the modem without the coaxial cable attached.

Thank you for your response. I was able to access the site via Chrome, despite the odd notice that my version of Chrome was unsupported because it is too old. In fact, it is up to date. In any event, I was unable to log in using the default information for admin and password found in my SBG8300 Quick Start Guide. Frankly, all I want to do is change the name and password of the network, but thus far that appears to beyond Arris’ capability.

Thank you. The reset was helpful, and I was finally able to change the password.
