Question

What to do when G-36 does not even find other channels using troubleshooter

Just purchased a USED Arris G-36 and initial setup was fine. I had internet connection and WIFI going to all my smart devices. 2 days later, I have NO WIFI coming from the modem it seems?   Logged into modem and used the (Spectrum Analyzer) and it shows NO other channels/Mac SSID etc. around me in the hood. I have ethernet connected to my desktop and this works fine. I have already done the following:

> Called Mediacom to ensure setup and that modem shows up on network.

(Logs from modem show initialization and also shows them re-initializing on day I called them 2 days later after losing radio signals on device.)

> Power reset

> Modem restart of WIFI

> Manual channel changes (still no connection to the smart devices)

> Used EVERY option in Restart/Restore while logged into the modem

Does this likely mean the WIFI radio software/hardware is no good?  Should I return this as a defective modem? Or, is there something else anyone can suggest I try to get the wifi radio signals going?

If the Wi-Fi alone is not working, could you confirm whether both Wi-Fi bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz) are broadcasting?

If they are, is the Wi-Fi issue occurring on a specific device or all devices connected to the Wi-Fi?

When logging into the web-based interface (GUI), navigate to Gateway > Hardware > Wireless and check if the Link Status shows as active.

Thank you for your reply.  I did confirm WiFi is broadcasting by using my cell. I DID find out that this issue was caused by my “dinking” around with attempting to setup the bridge mode (initially incorrectly it seems).

I went back to square one and disconnected all satellites (reset them) as well as factory reset the G-36. After setting up my mesh again using bridge mode, I was successful in connecting all three extenders and now see that the option to view channels/other ssids etc. is NO LONGER an option I would normally see. This would now be controlled by my main satellite using the mobile Surfboard Central app..I simply panicked not knowing this option becomes unavailable when in bridge mode.. although I am now trying to figure out why the WEB BASED gui to my cable modem will not allow me past 100mps to that main satellite now acting as the router.. (that question is on another thread for gui issues.)

Thanks again for inquiring!
