SBG8300 shows Online and WiFi lights on after Co-axial cable disconnected

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi,

I have an SBG8300.

My internet was down this morning, but the online and Wi-Fi lights were illuminated. I tried in connecting and reconnecting the power. No luck. Then I tried resetting with a paper clip. I held the button down for a minute (timed). Nothing happened. The lights stayed on the whole time. When I disconnect the internet cable (the power cable is the only thing left plugged in), the online and wifi lights are still illuminated. Even if I power cycle, the second I plug the power cable in, it says I have wifi, even without the wifi cable.

I’m at a loss for what to do here. Is there another way to reset my device? Do I just need to buy a new one?

Hello eric28446,

Could you let us know did you try Reset without co-axial cable ?

Also, hardwire the modem and check IPV4 address

If you disconnect the coax from it, then reset it while its powered on, what happens? (with coax off)
