is modem arris sbg6400 compatible for xfinity comcast 400mbps internet service?

Will it work? Sure. But it won’t be able to hit full 400mbps. its modem isn’t capable of that.

No its not. 

Current setup: Netgear CM3000-->Netgear RBE973S-->2.5gig tp-link switch, Xfinity 2.4gig/350mbps

Indeed. Plmeans.  Slow plus can’t handle tv YouTube loading v fast. Getting a 3.1 for up to 100$

Some modems are capable but your internet provider won’t allow it on speed plan.  It’s always best to check your cable provider’s modem compatibility list  (http://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com/).
