Disable modem functionality on SBG6580

I have a SBG6580-0228 modem/wifi combo surfboard.  My internet provider (Spectrum) upgraded their service (300mb download & 10mb upload) and they sent me their modem.  Since my existing modem/wifi surfboard can only go up to 120mb download so I have to use their modem to take advantage of the faster speed..

Can I disable the modem functionality of my existing modem/wifi combo and only use the wifi functionality of it?  If so, how please?

Thanks

I know you can disable the router function but I’ve not seen the ability to disable the modem function. sorry. One of the reasons I usually recommend a separate modem from the router.

Hello Andy

The answer that @plemans gave is accurate. To reinforce it, you can only disable the WiFi part of the device, this function is called “Bridge Mode”. For what you’re looking for, I recommend to use a router.

Hope this information works.
