I just got done speaking to comcast and they are telling me that my G34 surfboard model is outdated. Does this mean it needs and update or does this mean it just will not function any longer?

Try calling someone else. The G34 is a really new docsis 3.1 device and for sure not outdated.

Since you are not having internet connection in G34, could you let us know when did you purchase the modem.
