I just got the g54 today, I set it up and it is connected to my isp. Every couple hours the g54 will lose connection then reconnect. I will have internet then all the sudden I lose it and have to wait for the g54 to reset, then I get my internet back.

In this case to understand the issue better could you please help us with the information that what are the troubleshooting you performed for this issue?
Is the issue happening only on particular devices or all the devices connected to modem wifi?
