Should I enable bridge mode at the modem or use the GUI setting on app?

Hi everyone. I have a G36 cable modem connected to one MAIN W30 extender/router via ethernet cable.

The main W30 is connected to two other extenders.  I noticed on the Surfboard app GUI settings that I can enable bridge mode. But I also see this bridge mode setting using the web interface to my modem.

Which one should I use to turn off the wifi for my mesh setup? Turn on Bridge mode at the my Modem, or use the app. to turn on bridge?  Trying to avoid the double NAT issue.

To enable Bridge Mode, we recommend doing so through the G36’s GUI, as this helps prevent double NAT issues.

To set it up correctly, follow these steps:

  1. Connect a computer directly to the G36 using an Ethernet cable.

  2. Log in to the G36’s GUI and enable Bridge Mode.

  3. Once Bridge Mode is enabled, power off both the G36 and the W130.

  4. Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected from the G36 to the WAN port of the main W30 unit.

  5. Power on the G36 first and wait for it to fully boot up.

  6. Then, power on the main W30 and check if everything is working correctly.

Note: Make sure there is only one Ethernet connection to the G36, as enabling Bridge Mode turns it into a standard cable modem.

Thanks!  This works. Just thought it might work the same since I showed an option to enable bridge mode within the Surfboard web portal app also. I had simply turned off both Wifi bands (2.4 and 5) on the G36 itself. Then enabled bridge mode within the app on my cell.
