phone line or cell line for installation on SB6183 and SB6190

Forum|alt.badge.img

Do these cable modems require a phone line or cell line for installation?  We are in the mountains and the voice lines run on the internet, so when the internet is down so are our phones.

Thank you

Chuck

Usually you either have to call in the activation or activate through an app. Once its activated, it should be fine though.

If you haven’t bought one of those yet, I’d look for a docsis 3.1 device over 3.0 device. We’re seeing more ISP’s push for 3.1 modems.

Basically, both the modems SB6183 and SB6190 does not support telephone lines as they are just  cable modems  which supports DOCSIS 3.0 .

If you are looking for cable modems that supports telephone lines than you can choose T25 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.1 gigabit modem for xfinity internet and voice support.

So make sure your Internet Service Provider need to be Xfinity only.
