I have contact my ISP as I am looking to port forward on my router, after a fair bit of research it turns out I have a private IP address and this needs to be changed to public. When I first contacted my ISP (Optimum) they said it would be no issue to do this, until they discovered I have my own modem and router. They then explained to me that in order to change my IP from private to public I had to contact my modem’s manufacture.

I cannot see any way to make changes to my ISP, and if my suspicions are right, I am not able to through my modem and it has to be done through my ISP.

Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.

If you are connecting MAC  computer , Select the System Preference from “Apple” icon /choose Network and then check the IPV4  address on the Ethernet option .

Do share the IPV4 address .
