I am so perplexed!!! All of a sudden I am  unable to connect to all my devices at home. I contacted my Spectrum service provider and they advised that I needed to contact the modem company. I know that there’s no issue with my internet because many of my devices are still in use, but my macbook, xboxes and Roku TV which all worked prior to 2 days ago are no longer connecting to the internet. We’ve done factory resets and disconnections and restarts of these devices and nothing works. Can someone suggest what the problem may be.

Hi LWhite18,

SB8200 is a cable modem 3.1DOCSIS , this modem gets connected to a router in order to provide Wi-Fi internet.

To check if the modem able to communicate a proper IP address we need to connect it directly to a computer (ethernet port ) if there is no ethernet port a mac computer with an ethernet adaptor will help.

To access IPV4 on the “windows computer”  Press “Windows Key and Letter “R” Key together , it will show a “Run” command and type in ”cmd” which will lead to a blank page , type in  “ip config” and Press Enter key , note the IPV4 address @Ethernet adapter Ethernet and share the IPV4 address.

For mac windows : Select “System Preferences “ from the “Apple Icon”  it will lead to “ Network” and share the IPV4 address at  Ethernet option .

Sharing the IPV4 address,  we will be able to understand if it is a valid IP address .

Let us know if this helps.

I am having same issue since 5 days ago. Did all troubleshooting and even hard reset on modem. WOW says they are able to ping and shows connection. But modem is not connected to internet.

Connection problems. Power is showing negative.

If the power light on the modem is off or flickering then you can try changing modem to different power outlet or using different power cable. If the power lights stays ON and solid then we would suggest you to check the IPV4 address of the modem by connecting any device to it directly to isolate the issue.
