I purchased a new SBG10 about a week ago. Got it set up, and was getting 400+mbps, then IT department from work changed some settings and only getting 30mbps now. Factory reset, still same issue. Even when laptop is connected via ethernet, it only gets 30mbps. Is there something I am missing?

Customer support not open til later. Wasted over an hour yesterday with ISP and all they did was send a refresh signal to modem, which did nothing.

**linked status below, but honestly makes no sense to me. been dealing with this issue (and other IT issues with work) long enough that my brain is fried.

You should have more lines connected and your upstream is only at docsis 2.0. Time to contact the ISP.

Are these things that isp should change then? How would I say this to them?

I called and she said they have to send someone out. Doesn’t make sense that they can’t fix by changing some settings when it worked for a bit last week… I had already set an appointment for tomorrow as a last ditch effort, so guess I just have to wait.

Tends to be something went wrong with the line. You can check your end of it. Remove any splitters, amplifiers, signal attenuators. check the line for any damage, kinks, corrosion, loose connections. If you can, move the modem to right where the cable comes into the home. This helps prevent things in the walls from being the issue.

Update: Had ISP out yesterday and they ended up replacing the line all the way out to the pole. Tech said it’s been at least 15 years since my house has been serviced (I knew at least 10 since I’ve owned the house that long). He could tell because there was an amplifier or splitter on the outside of the house that was phased out over 15 years ago! Signal has been good ever since, getting 300mbps+ (my plan is only 250). Must have been a fluke those couple of days where I was getting 250-300mbps.

glad you got it working!
