I am having issues connecting smart plugs to my 2.4 connection. I have tried absolutely every trick in the book.
The plugs are two foot away from the router as I am trying to pair.
There are minimal devices using the 2.4.

Is it the router? Do I need a stronger router?!
I know it’s not xfinity - when I used their router - the smart plugs connected just fine!

I have xodo & geeni smart plugs and neither brands will work with this router!

The second smart plug…

XODO by Contixo

Could you let me know whether the Wi-Fi network name is broadcasting while trying to connect the smart plug with SBG10?

My person 2.4 WiFi network name showed up on the device.

it blinked fast. But the 2 minute timer just spins and never connects. No matter what I do.

I tried looking at all my internal 2.4 settings. And nothing I did worked. The smart plug wouldn’t connect. And Contixo never contacted me back.

I even upgraded the speed of my internet - and that didn’t work.

I’m about to return the plugs because I’m so frustrated.

Did you tried to change the security mode and channels?

To change the security mode:

Login to web portal> 192.168.0.1> Basic setup>Wireless 2.4G>security mode as WPAWPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES) and change the channel from Auto to 1 or 6 or 11.

Xodo Smart app is currently unavailable in Apple app stores. So I am in able to try.

I did dumb down the security modes and that never worked.

I could never find the channel. But just did.

so maybe when the app becomes available- if it ever becomes available- I will try again??

any other suggestion??? If that doesn’t work?

Mode 1 definitely did not work. I didn’t not get a. Chance to try 6 or 11 yet. But if 1 did not, I’m not very optimistic

is your phone on the 2.4ghz during setup?

Some of these cheap plugs need the phone on the same band as the plug.

Also remove any spaces/special characters in the ssid and password. The spec shouldn’t require it but some of these IoT devices are marginally coded at best.

YES. My phone is on the 2.4 during setup.

The current network name is 1989_2.4   that shouldn’t be a problem - or would it? That’s how I tell the two apart.

If you tried all the possible troubleshooting, then I would suggest checking with smart plug support for further assistance.

The smartplug support does not reply to emails or phone calls. Horrible customer support! At this point I don’t trust contixo products.

A lot of the IoT devices have little/no support. they’re made as cheaply as possible and sent out. Try using a ssid/password without any special characters/spaces.

See if that works.

Tried absolutely all of these. And nothing worked.
returning these defective POC smart sockets.
I strongly advise against ever buying anything Xodo or Contixo
