I have service with Optimum. The provided modem from Optimum is connected via coaxial. It is providing wifi to more than 25+ devices. I have this SBG6950AC2 modem/router and want to know if I can use this device to connect to the existing network via ethernet and coaxial and use the device to connect some of the devices to this router.

  • Essentially using this router as a wifi extender.
  • Not have to connect it to the provider service.
  • Just allow devices that are more than 75 feet away from the modem to connect to the router.

SBG6950AC2  is a combination of modem and router so on this device you can enable bridge mode which will allow the device to work as just the modem so that will disable wifi on  SBG6950AC2. you cannot you it as just the router or extenders that will cause interruption to your network so this modem is not compatible to work as just the router.
