S34 Needs reboot every few days


Hi,

I recently switch out my old cable modem to a new S34 with my Xfinity service and every few days my internet stops working. Modem shows connection is still there (Blue light) but no traffic. It will stay this way until I reboot the S34 modem.

The log/status shows no obvious error, the log does show some critical issues now and then but does not seem to affect or correspond to the issues I’m having.

 

My old cable modem did not have this issue so I wondering if this is a faulty modem?

The information you provided relates to cable signal levels, which should fall within an acceptable range to make sure internet quality. However, according to our records, the signal levels you mentioned are outside of that acceptable range.

We suggest contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to have them reviewed and adjusted as needed.

The other set of information you provided consists of event logs, which record errors occurring on the service. These logs indicate issues related to your internet service provider.

You have a bunch of errors in your line and your signal has issues according to the log. You can check the cable for kinks, damage, loose connectors, bad splitters, etc. I’d recommend moving the modem to right where the coax comes into the home and connect there. If you still get the issues, the ISP needs to check the line. 

IF you didn’t have any issues before, try changing the coax cable. Could be it got kinked/damaged during the change
