My ISP is Frontier and we have the fastest internet speed they offer for our area: 14 Mbps . Upload is about 2 Mbps.
The service came with an Arris NVG558 modem/router combination.
If we upgrade to a better combined modem/router, can we increase the strength of the wifi signal?

NVG558 is not supported device. Arris supports only the retail products that are available on surfboard.com but not the ISP lease products. so please do contact your ISP to check on this further.
