Totally ignorant about wifi/modems. Can you recommend a good extender for use with my SB6190? Trying to serve a 4500 sq ft house on two levels.

SB6190 is just a cable modem without inbuilt WIFI on it so get the router which will also act as an extender and SB6190 is compatible with all brand router. you can check for Mesh system for better WIFI connectivity to cover larger surroundings.
