I just purchased the G36 DOCSIS 3.1 Wi-fi modem today. I have xfinity as a provider for my service and have a Ethernet cable coming out of the box. Is this unit going to work for me? It looks like it only accepts coax cable connections for connections to the service.

What box is it from xfinity? Like I said, they don’t just run ethernet lines in. Some of their newer install’s might have fibre which still has some type of ONT.

Xfinity is a cable internet provider so they should have a coax. Unless they attached their own modem to it? Which is why I’m curious about this box

The line running into the house from xfinity is a Cat 5E Ethernet cable. Which leaves me to need the import line connection to be a Ethernet connection, instead of a Coax connection.

Usually, Arris's modem/router works only with co-axial cable connection. It is not compatible with ethernet cable connection to access the internet.
