Question

SB8200 normally has all green lights, today one is blue and no internet

We’ve used this modem for years with no issues like this. The buttons are always green. Today, we stopped getting internet service. The receiving light is blue, and the internet company is sending a tech, which is a huge inconvenience. Do I need to replace the modem? Thanks.

Hello ptkelly80

SB8200 is a cable modem so Blue - Indicates DOCSIS 3.1 operation (high-speed Internet access) which may not be available in all location.  Check with your service provider for availability in your area. For send and receive Green: Downstream channel is connected in DOCSIS 3.0 mode. and if the Fourth light from top on the modem is the online light and if that is off that shows your modem is not getting internet from the internet service provider so you need to contact your internet service provider to re activate modem.

Thanks. All four lights are on, including the internet one. My ISP reset it on their end (which has always worked before…it’s Optimum, aka Suddenlink, which is sadly our only option here), with no luck this time. Nothing I tried on my own or with the help of the tech over the phone has helped. A technician is coming out on Wednesday.
