Arris Surfboard SVG2482AC - Slow speed internet issues

Forum|alt.badge.img

I currently have the SVG2482AC with my Xfinity account.  Xfinity notified me that I have faster internet speed but this router does not support the higher speeds.  What would be a good, low cost replacement for this router?  I need the same features as I plug a business phone into this router.  I don’t have any issues with this router and wondering if I should just keep or upgrade to accommodate the higher speed. Thoughts and recommendations??

Thank you!

The SVG2482-AC modem supports speeds up to 800 Mbps. I kindly request a downgrade of the current speed plan to match the modem’s maximum supported speed.

Additionally, please check the cable signal levels to ensure they are all within the recommended range.

Could you let me know the speed plan you opted for with the internet service provider?

xfinity states download speed Up to 1.2 Gbps.

i just ran a test on the xfinity website for my computer and it stated 509.0 mbps and upload speed of 39.7.  Not sure what this means and if it is accurate.  Or if it is good enough.  Thank you

does it matter if I ask to downgrade the current speed?  What if they say they can’t and it is what it is?  I couldn’t check the signal levels as it was not accepting my login info.   I am back to my question….is this modem sufficient or is it old and needs upgraded to a higher speed?    If so, what is the equivalent modem that can handle the higher speed??  Thank you

If you enable an internet speed plan that exceeds your modem's supported capacity, it may lead to slow or intermittent connectivity issues. If you prefer a speed plan of up to 1.2 Gbps, I recommend using a modem that supports speeds higher than 1 Gbps—for example, the ARRIS G36.

Do you know if that modem has a telephone port?  I couldn’t tell by looking at it.  I need a modem that I can plug a business phone into.  Thank you!

Yes, absolutely. The SVG2482AC is compatible with telephone service and includes a built-in telephone port.
