The router has started to ask me for the wifi security key each time i start the laptop

What router do you have? The motorola is a phone.
And it’d be an issue with the motorola saving the password, not the router

You’ll need to select “connect automatically” on your laptop so that the laptop saves the Wi-Fi network and password.
