You can’t. A modem only devices firmware is part of the provisioning from the ISP. Its pushed from them when they connect it to their system. And sometimes different ISP’s even have different firmware versions they’re on.
Its part of the docsis spec that it comes from the ISP.

I want to ensure that my device is up to date to ensure that I am optimizing its performance.

The modem’s performance isn’t going to be based on the firmware. Usually firmware pushes fix vulnerabilities or security issues on modems. The modem performance is set by the provisioning your ISP pushes to it.
