Hello,

I have an SB8200 and I’m on the xfinity “Performance Pro Internet Plan” (Download speeds: up to 400 Mbps / Upload speeds: up to 100 Mbps). Google Wifi puck connects to the modem. Linksys se3008v2 switch connects to the puck. All other devices are either wired to the switch or connect to the puck by wifi.

I’ve only been able to pull ~10Mbps down on my connection. Tested this through:

 - The Google Wifi puck’s built in speed testing.

 - Internet speed test on a desktop hardwired to the switch

 - An Open Speedtest running on a hardwired NAS hit from my phone while wireless is turned off.

Had several troubleshooting calls with comcast. They tried all the standard restarts and re-provisioning. Sent out a technician who hooked their diagnostic device directly into the modem line. They were able to pull a normal upload speed.

Does this suggests the problem is on the modem side considering

 - the line itself looks good

 - the very first device connected to the modem (the wifi puck) has a low upload speed

Here is a copy of the information from the SB8200 status page in nice tabular form.

Hello ciferkey

Thank you for your detailed explanation. SB8200 is just a cable modem so we can test the optimal speed of the modem only on direct connection without router or any adapter connected. If you haven't check the speed from the modem directly  we would suggest you to check on the device connected directly to the modem without router and perform speed test and if the speed is low you can perform hard reset on the modem then again perform speed test if still slow speed issue persist we need to check the cable signal level of the modem, please follow the steps mentioned on article below,

Thanks for responding.

Confirming that the upload is just as low when directly connected to the modem.

I have now verified that in the downstream bonded channels are all in the acceptable range.
 - they are all QAM256

 - DPL are all between -15 dBmV to -6 dBmV)

 - SNR are all 33 dB or greater.

For the Upstream channels:

 - there are four channels so more than three

 - three of the channels are in the acceptable range: 45 dBmV to 51 dBmV

 - one channel is reading 44.0 dBmV

Power cycling and factory resetting did not change that. Could the upload be low because the upstream power level is out of range?

Did you ever get an legitimate answer or find a solution?

This is what I was about to post when i seen your question?

“I pay for 1000mbs down and 100 up. I get 900 down (which is fine) but only 24 up on a wired or wireless connection? I need to get more upload speed? At least half?! Is there a setting I can change to allow better upload speeds?”
