I upgraded my Comcast / Xfinity speed to 1000 GBPS but my speed test only shows up to 313MBPS. I tried and got the same result when tethered on WAN and on WIFI

I’ve tried restarting the modem and router both from Xfinity’s app and power cycling the modem / router. Still no change.

I called Comcast/Xfinity and they said I need to lease their latest router / modem for $15/month.

Is there no other way to get close to the 1 GBPS speed that I paid for?

You should get faster than those speeds.

How are you “tethered”? What device and what site are you testing with?

Did you try a factory reset/reinstall after the upgrade?

Sometimes a reset can force the new speed provisioning

yes I’ve done a factory reset after upgrading. and then I restarted it by using the comcast / xfinity app.

still the same 300 GBPS speed. nothing seems to change it

I tethered using a cable directly to the modem / router.

I used the xfinity and google and oomla speed tests. the xfinity one says 400 MBPS - the other two say 300 ish

If you are experiencing the slow speed, I would request you to check the cable signals and change the Wi-Fi channels.

The SBG8300 is probably stuck at your previous speed plan since the SBG8300 is not approved for Xfinity 1 Gbps plan.
