Introduction For starters, I live in an apartment complex that only has one ISP available (Cox). I purchased a SB8200 and a TP-Link ARCHER AX20 for the upgrade of service I was getting through cox. Number 1 Red Flag: The mobile app (SURFBoard Central).. I mean what a waste of time. This app serves no purpose other than showing you a email link to download a desktop app named “Fing” like who cares lol. Number 2 Red Flag: Upon reading the user manual, you can see the LED status screens on the front: USER MANUAL The plan for my internet is set to utilize DOCSIS 3.1, however the LEDs on the front all line up for 3.0. Troubleshooting: Obviously, restarted the modem Checked connections Use proper cables Interface Status Screen Side note: what a pain it is to get to this screen. Upon finally checking the status screen, I am met with these numbers: DOWNSTREAM CHANNEL STATUS I do not know if these numbers are correct, but one other note I had was on the “Product Information” screen, it list
My network name keeps changing over the last week, without me doing anything. It changes back to an old name or all of a sudden it has a number 2 at the end of the name. Why? I have a G34 WiFi modem.
I am having a recurring problem. At random times, my S33v2 Modem will lose its connection to the internet. No warning, and no clue why it is happening. Power cycling the modem restores its connection, and my ISP cannot detect any problems. I run the modem through an ASUS Wi-Fi Router, and when the connection drops, we still have network access, so I know the router isn’t the issue. I have looked through a few threads, and have accessed the Web Manager to check the signal power levels. The downstream power levels and SNR levels are within the recommended range. The upstream power levels however, are within the acceptable range (35 - 50 dBmV) according to my ISP (Xfinity), but NOT within the range suggested by the manufacturer (45 - 51 dBmV). Picture below. I have done a hard reset of the modem, via the reset switch on the bottom, but nothing changed. I am at my wits end with this, because there is no predicting it, and I’d like to avoid buying a new modem if possible. This one still wor
I renamed my wifi, but now have 2 listed home networks ( the new name plus the original ). My tv is connected to the newly named WiFi , but trying to set up printer and it keeps trying to connect to the original wifi name. Should I delete the original, or are they both the same?? I recently created my home network with the W133 mesh system. I would like to add one more mesh router to the system. Can I purchase a single W133 router or do I have to buy the system with 2? Is there another mesh router that would be compatible with my W133 system?
I am linked with my eero pro 6e router through the 2.5g port but there are no link lights. I also noticed when I boot the modem there are no lights on the 2.5g port but the 1g port has lights. Any thoughts?
I am having problems with my G34. I have it setup with the primary wifi as default name. I have the secondary wifi setup with a custom name. The guest wifi is not used. For some reason the modem will quit broadcasting on the secondary wifi. It will not even show up on the list of available networks. If I go into the setup my setting are still there. Power cycle does not fix it. The only way to make it work again without a factory reset is to disable both the 5ghz and the 2.4ghz. Save the settings. Then go back in and enable both 5ghz and 2.4ghz. Then the modem will broadcast the ssid and work again, This happens every week to 10 days. Any clues as to why this is happening? Thanks Bill
I am trying to replace my Xfinity cable modem with a G36 but am unable to successfully connect it to the Xfinity network. I tried the self activation using Xfinity’s app and the HFC MAC (both manually and with the QR code) which did not work and then talked with an Xfinity live agent for about 3 hours but still no luck. They say they can see the modem but when I’m on the admin app there is nothing showing in the WAN and signal screens. I factory reset the modem, power cycled, etc. multiple times with the Xfinity agent but nothing worked. I am able to switch it back to the old Xfinity modem and it works fine. The only recourse I have with Xfinity is to have a tech come to the house which will cost $100 but that seems useless since I know the signal is good (because the Xfinity agent switched the MAC back to the old cable modem and it works fine). The problem is definitely the G36. It just flashes blue. Is there any recourse?
I got a new gateway to replace the old one hoping for some quicker speeds and longer range. I called xfinity to activate because the self activate would not work. It wasn't recognizing the hfic. I finally got the wifi to show up on my devices but it shows no internet. Then after about 10 minutes it disappears completely. The front light is a solid blue. None of the ethernet jacks light up. And I tried plugging my computer straight into it with no recognition that it is connected. Is this gateway junk or why can I not connect to it directly?
Connected G34 it show up on my WiFi on my phone and all devices but no internet.
