Arris X5042 connection procedure

Trying to connect Arris X5042 to improve WI Fi connectivity to my devices. I’ve used the WPS button to connect the Arris to my Fiber Gateway Wi-Fi 6 router which also complies with Wi-Fi EasyMeshTM. I was unable to find the Artis App for my iPhone to complete the the installation but I do have a solid green light on the Arris after connecting using WPS. I did find a surfboard Arris app that didn’t have the Arris X5042 listed as a device supported by the app? Not sure now if any of my devices are connected to the Arris? In wifi settings on my phone, I don’t see any new networks to confirm that the installation was successful. I don’t even see the X5042 listed anywhere on the community? Thanks!

G36 WiFi 5Ghz Channel Speed Slower than 2.4GHz

I’d welcome any insight as to what may cause the 5GHz WiFi signal on the G36 to regularly provide slower (19, 27, 35 40, 65mbps, etc.) network speed than the 2.4GHz (72mbps). 2 Coax cable connected devices meet network speed service levels (Network is WOW, Service Level is 300/20.) Only two devices connected to 5GHz channel (1 Android phone, 1 Tp-Link Mesh WiFi Extender.) Other factors for consideration:Both frequencies are using non-congested channels in my area (they are the only signal on their respective channels according to the WiFi Spectrum analyzer.) Bandwidth selection set to Manual: 2.4Ghz is 20/40; 5GHz is20/40/80 Default settings for MU-MIMO enabled; DFS disabled Distance from the modem/router does not change these results (10 inches up to 50 feet.) Rebooting the modem/router does not change these results.I’m unsure of any other potential signal interference to consider. I’m unsure if this issue is a product Warranty Issue. connecting sb8200 to optimum

I purchased an SB8200 to connect to Optimum after having them scan the MAC address at their local office the modem will not connect. The power light is green downstream and upstream lights stay solid greed and internet light flashes green. This stays this way for several minutes then the internet turns solid green for maybe 5 seconds then all lights except power go out and the process repeats. I have had them reflash the service, confirmed the MAC address and even changed my service coax cable. I had this issue about 1-2 years ago when I upgraded a modem at another location and after much ado it was resolved but I don’t remember how it was resolved. I really feel this is an optimum side issue but any advice would be appreciated.

G34 Ethernet for Room to Room

I’m connecting the ethernet into Port 1 of the modem to the wall. In a separate room, I’m plugging a new ethernet cable from laptop to the wall CAT5 port. I’m not sure if there is a setting I need to do to use ethernet this way but it’s not working. Laptop is Mac and cables are new. I am inserting ethernet into docking station, it shows that, I see IPv4 and IPv6 but they are set to auto use etc. Connecting laptop to modem directly works.

Internet connection is unstable" Arris S33 (but only in Zoom calls)

I have Spectrum Internet and get excellent and reliable speeds with my Arris S33 modem. For the last few months in Zoom meetings my screen freezes (everyone except me) and I have no audio. In a minute or so it comes back and I get a Zoom error message “Your Internet connection is unstable.” During these freezes I have tested my connection with Speedtest and with other browser windows. The problem is only in Zoom. I have used Zoom on my MacBook Pro and my Dell XPS 15 laptops and get the same behavior.The Zoom help is no help. Spectrum insists there is no problem and they can’t help because I am not using their modem. The S33 has current firmware. (And I have rebooted the modem, the Amplifi router, and all other pieces of equipment in my cabinet multiple times). Can anyone help? Thanks.Edit: I found an forum article instructing a user of another modem to check cable signal levels. MoCA setting disables itself after every modem restart - TG3452A

Hello everyone. The MoCA configuration on my Arris TG3452A modem keeps going back to disabled after a restart. So every time an outage or anything happens that restarts the router, I have to go to the only part of the house where WiFi works, log into the device, and re-enable it so the extenders work again. If I’m not home, then everyone is up in arms. We work from home, so that’s a problem.Does anyone have a clue why this setting would switch itself off on a restart?The thing I’ve had this modem router for years and it used to retain its MoCA configuration just fine. For some reason this problem started a few months ago when we switched to a faster service tier. I can’t say it’s the cause of it, but it coincided with it. I’m wondering if a firmware update introduced the issue.Two people at my ISP said it must be a faulty unit. They swapped it for a new one. I just tested it by simply restarting it (not resetting it, just restarting) from the web interface. Same problem.A third person

I had an Iphone 12 and now Iphone 15. When I have long phone calls lasting 10-30 minutes, eventually my calls get disconnected. Spectrum, my ISP, says it is the SURFboard DOCSIS® 3.1 . I believe it is Spectrum service. I attached logs

Arris Surfboard SB6190 no wifi network

Been using current modem and router for years, suddenly our network name is not showing up at all for connecting to WiFi. Checked with Xfinity and they said it must be an equipment issue. Checked with our router and it appears to be working well. Must be the surfboard SB6190.. any troubleshooting tips beyond unplugging and replugging and ensuring the coaxial cable is tight in wall and device?

Connection Diagramcox <------> modem <------> router <----→ CPU SB8200 Netgear Win7 Nighthawk-R7000 The modem/router/cpu seems to work. I checked it by logging onto 192.198.100.1.The cox/modem connection does not seem to work. I can’t communicate to the WWW.The modem was purchased and delivered on 8 Mar. This is my first attempt to use it. Any idea what I need to look at or do to fix the issue? Another thing. I looked at the log file after I logged into the modem. The log file has about 74 entries, starting in 3/2023. Is this a new modem?

I bought my Arris S33 modem July 4 2022 through Amazon for over $300.00less than two years have gone by (07/04/2022 - 01/26/2024) and my warranty with Arris is already expired according to their website. I have been experiencing a lot of problems staying connected to the internet even though I usually get nice speeds when I am connected. I went to my ISP, Optimum, and the front counter associate checked out my modem and let me know it was causing the intermittent issues due to 4 bad channels out of the 32 channels it has. He then explained to me that the modem most likely does not have anyway of just turning off the 4 bad channels. So, my question is can I fix my modem such as turning off the 4 bad channels it has, or can I still return my modem to Arris to have them fix and/or replace it even though it’s no longer under warranty? Thanks for any help in advance.

SB8200 Incompatible With Apple AirPort Extreme?

Hi All: I recently set up an SB8200 to take advantage of faster speeds offered by WOW. My previous modem SBG6580 was working fine. A serious casualty to the upgrade was my pair of Apple Airport Extreme drives. I use them for wireless service to my home and as a streaming drive for music to my iPad. I could not get the drives to set up properly with the new SB8200 modem installed. My situation was that I could have wired internet service to my Mac desktop. OR I could have connectivity wired between the Apple drives and the mac with wireless functionality indicated on wireless devices - but NO INTERNET. I couldn’t have it all. It was all working together before the upgrade. After hours of playing with settings on the Apple drives in the AirPort Utility, I reinstalled the old SBG6580 and had WOW turn it back on. Everything effortlessly re-acquainted and it is all working fine again. I really would like to get the SB8200 working correctly with the Apple drives but don’t know wh

sb6141 intermittent internet connectivity

i have an sb6141. i just hooked it up a few days ago. it was working off and on, and a quick unplug re plug seemed to fix it while i tried to figure out its errors. xfinity can see it, but it wont connect to internet or reset. they say to contact arris. the phone app is useless pretty much cause it wont hook to the data for it so i can figure out the error. this is new so i am very unhappy. Any suggestions
