G34 | G36

The parental controls require that the router have the correct time. My kids’ wifi kept turning off at odd times. I tracked the issue down to the router forgetting the time zone. When that happens, the router might say its 11:00 p.m. when its really 5:00 p.m. which causes the parent controls to kick in and blocks their wifi access. This has now happened about a dozen times. Why does the route forget its time zone? I have tried multiple time servers from Google, NIST, and MSFT. Always the same issue. Is there any way to configure the router to stop losing the time zone?Setting the time zone to Automatic always produces the wrong time. For example, it is 17:40 right now. I set the time zone to “Automatic” and the updated screen now states that it is 23:40, which is 6 hours off. Where is the router pulling the automatic time zone from? I currently have an SBG6580 that has to be rebooted every week or so to reconnect to wifi. Comcast says this model is outdated, so I bought a lightly used G36 on eBay.I connected the G36 today. It lit up with a solid blue light I but could not get the wifi or Ethernet working. Comcast support did whatever they do on their end and said their system did not recognize this modem.They’ll send out a technician to set it up for a fee (probably).I was using my cell phone data for search and setup. arrris.com/selfhelp is a circular reference leading to this community, hardly what I call self-help. I am unable to connect to the modem GUI on my cell phone. I was unable to find the manual for the G36 on the Arris Web site. I was unable to find out where to register the G36.  Arris support phone claims to be open 24/7 but it’s closed on weekends.What do I have to do to get this G36 online, before I have to pay a Comcast technician?PS Very dismaying to see so many com

I have the latest 1.05 Firmware upgrade on my G36 router and the internet is constantly dropping 4 to 5 times a day.  The only thing that fixes the connection is a hard reboot of the router.  I can still see devices on the local network but internet connectivity is lost.Working from home makes this very FRUSTRATING!Any solutions in sight other than trashing this router?  

Hello, I have the following setup: Xfinity Internet of 1GB  Surfboard G34 Modem + Router Combo  4 Eero 6+’s I have the following 2 issues: When I enable bridge mode on my G34, my eeros no longer work and cannot connect to the internet. As soon as I disable the bridge mode everything works fine. I have been on 5+ hours of support with both xfinity and eero and still cannot resolve this problem  The above problem stemmed when I identified through a speed test that directly from my modem my internet speed is always ~950mbps, however when I run speed tests on my wifi with my eeros connected my speed is around 120-170mbps. This is a HUGE drop. I was trying to trouble shoot and hence backed into the above enabling the bridge mode which I cannot do and there are no other solutions.  Even when I check the speed from the 2 networks that are pushed through the G34 those speeds are even slower ranging from 100-

My sons Xbox shows up as one of the connected devices list in the app, but when I go into “My experiences” and I created a profile for him, then click his profile and “Add Device” the Xbox doesn’t show up as a device I can add to his profile- even though he is playing it right now - so it is actively online. Just not showing up. Every other device that is online shows up on the list I can choose from to add to his profile - just not the Xbox.Thank you,tara

What is the fix for these connectivity issues?  I had intermittent issues until the last couple weeks.  Today I cannot get it to work at all.  I know it is this g36 because I bridge connected my old tp-link modem router to the g36 and I can access internet thru the old modem through the g36 but not the g36.  We live in an area with little to no cell phone signal and rely heavily on our wifi and internet connection for wifi calling.  I also work at home and the internet connection is vital to my work.  This is extremely frustrating as this modem was not cheap and should work.  I have spent time trying to figure out what to do with this that has taken away time from my job.  I do not recall getting an email from arris or xfinity about any issues so I'm just finding out about this connectivity issue.  Extremely disappointed in this product.  

Also received the Xfinity firmware update version 01.05 for my G36 and still experiencing intermittent connectivity issues. Internet goes out multiple times a day every few days. Work from home. Reliable service is essential. Purchased the G36 as this was recommended by Xfinity. Constant rebooting is not a viable solution. Arris and Xfinity, please resolve this before you both lose another customer.

For my xfinity service, I got my new G36 and began the signup process. I got to the part where I was supposed to contact xfinity, which I did. After a long time working on it, the tech got me set up. Meanwhile, I guess the Arris app had timed out. It seems to only give me the option of a re-install, like after a factory reset, But I don’t want to do that, because I don’t want to go through the painful activation process with Xfinity again. So what’s the best, most efficient thing I can do, to complete my setup? 

Why does my higher speed wifi keep dropping off.  I have to reboot every few days to get it back. Is there any wY to correct this issue?

I have a G34 and it is configured to provide both 2.4G and 5G networks. In the router, everything looks fine.  Broadcast network name is checked.However, the 5G network doesn’t show up as being available on any devices. How do I fix this?

Just switched to a Arris G36 and I previously had my network routed through some OpenDNS servers. At least I think, its been years .I set it up using the below primary and secondary. I know it was working before I switched, but after some initial test on the new modem/router it doesn’t seem to be blocking the sites it normally would. it also seems to kill my wifi. My direct connection works fine, when using the below.Primary      208.67….Secondary 208.67….Can anyone provide some guidance on how to set it up properly. Was putting into “connections/local ip/ IPv4”Thanks in advance.

I set up the router with the iOS app. I did not have to set a password. It sent me a verification email with a 6 digit code. I cannot log into the web based router because I don’t know the password. I tried the 6 digit code, but didn’t work.  The error tells me to use a valid email, which is what I’m doing.

I have a G34 5g modem. For the past month I have had to reboot it daily. When the connection drops the modem light is blue every time. I did a factory reset and the modem was fine for five days but is now dropping wifi again. Is this a hardware or isp issue?

Trying to return my modem/router to Verizon and purchased the G36 because it has the coaxial cable connection.  Setup went OK and connected phone and ring door bell and nest thermostat.  But within a few minutes nothing is working.  Tried computer and it says no internet, secured.  Any ideas? I cannot seem to find anywhere how to remove or release the IP address for an unknown device.  I can see the list of connected devices but I cannot release or remove their connection.  Is this possible?

Can anyone do me a solid and provide a step by step on aquiring and installing new firmware? My research hasn’t really done me any good. thanks in advance!

Well I live in an Xfinity area that has not yet flipped the switch on the upcoming docsis 4 integration (it's coming) and my g34 is behaving much like everyone else's. Yes I have the new firmware and yes the issue persists. And it's a weird one. The 5g wifi vanishes. The wired connection also drops. Simultaneously. The most frustrating part is the blue indicator light does not indicate a network interruption 

I set port forwarding up on my G36 and when I hit save, it goes back and shows it was created but everything is 0.I edit it and sure enough, everything is 0. It doesn’t appear to be saving. I deleted the record and tried it again and got the same result.I’m trying to forward 5001 external and internal ports.  

Just bought a G36 and now I cannot view my live camera feeds from my other house.  I can view the feeds fine from my neighbors modem, from the library modem or from my mobile network, but something is clearly blocking the feed when I try my new G36 modem.  Any idea what setting I would need to change to fix this?

I'm having the same, issues as everyone else. 5ghz antenna vanishing, constantly rebooting to fix, etc...and about the last thing I can try is enable bridge mode and have a sidecar nighthawk do it's thing. My hope is the glitch is in the routing portion of the gateway since it's technically online when the G34 craps out.. It's connected to the xfinity network, but not broadcasting..so maybe get it as close to a modem as possible and see if it's better just pushing a public ip without all the routing magic

will G34 connect to Netgear model EX6100 extender?  I tied but can’t get th to connect
