G34 | G36

It seems like the mods close topics and mark them as solved without vetting. There is never any mention “you may have a defective product” or linking various topics to “there may be a problem”. My G36 loses 5GHz WiFi, Will not accept connections (says bad password) with the correct password, 2.5GbE loses internet connection and loses everyone (wired or wireless) internet. Every one of these issues can be resolved by a reset. There is no patten and the G36 may run for a week or have 2 failures in a day. My G36 is my basement (68degF) and I have a 24V screaming fan blowing into it, so this is ideal for any electronic device. I thought that this may be a faulty product, but good luck trying to get a RMA. +$300 hard lesson if you own this. If you are looking to buy this device, please steer clear of this G36 product or not sure if I would recommend this company.

I just purchased the Surfboard G36 modem wifi router today January 13,2024, and set it up with my internet provider. it’s working fine. do i have to register it with Arris ? or will i be perfectly fine just as i am ? I ask because i just want to operate it via my internet provider and not have to go through headaches of resolving issues with the manufacturer. 

I have Xfinity 1000Gb down and 100Mb Mps up speed package. I get up to 900Mbs+ for download, but never more than 24Mbs upload. Both on an ethernet-wired desktop and a WiFi connected  laptop.Xfinity has reprovisioned and tested my connection.  They suggested I upgrade the firmware. Unit is running AR01.04.028.01.01_040121_724.NCS.20.X2I think Xfinity needs to perform the upgrade, and they said they did. But on rebooting the G36 it didn’t change.  Now they are suggesting get the Xfinity router.Any advice? Fred

Purchased surfboard ax 3000. Having issues with cox service. Internet freezes, loads, disconnects. Cox support told me this modem is not compatible with cox panaoramic WiFi 

No wifi. Worked before the storm, xfinity service provider said internet restored 10 hours ago, xfinity tech said the wifi should work after they troubleshot and since it’s not to contact arris about the surfboard g36

I purchased the G36 modem/router because it specifically had Wifi 6. Sometimes I am getting very good and fast connection with my devices, but other times, at least once or twice a day, my devices will lose connection and sometimes disconnect from the network entirely. I have to restart the G36 each time this happens and things work again but this usually takes about 5 minutes at least which is not acceptable when on a work call. Are there any resolutions or firmware updates that might fix this? 

Everyday my download speed drops to 32MBPS or 500+ when I restart and or when it decides to work properly wired and wirelessly. Upload speed is where it should be. This has been going on for about 2 weeks and I’m close to getting a different modem. Cox says nothing is wrong on their end. 

Just setup our Surfboard G36 and I can't get it to connect to our HP Photosmart 5520. Any suggestions? I've tried the 5G and 2.4.

My Arris Surfboard G34, which I am using with Xfinity, consistently crashes, or is unable to connect. I am having to reset it at least once per day, if not more. This is the second model I have bought, and both have had the exact same problem. The Surfboard app is almost useless and I have to login to the desktop/browser version to actually get anything done. I have such buyers remorse about this thing. It’s awful, absolutely terrible.

My G34 loses connection at around 7:00 everyday, it stays solid blue for a minute then blinks blue then blinks green then goes solid and repeats over and over. Idk what to do at this point no wires are damaged device is brand new and my isp says it’s fine.

I recently upgraded to the Arris G36 router/modem, for use with Xfinity 1 gbps service. I selected the product because Xfinity includes it on its “official” list of products that are compatible with it AND which would help me to take full advantage of my service level (which my old router/modem did not).Since then, I have experienced the following issues:I’m often disconnected from the Internet entirely, and need to reboot the router/modem and/or manually connect to the Internet on my phone/laptop (rather than the Internet connection being constant) When watching Netflix or Amazon Prime, I often experience buffering--at least a half a dozen times per hour. To whom it may concern, In December 2022, I purchased this Arris equipment from Amazon. From day one, we go from problem to problemwith frustrations. In other thing, we experienced these problems:- Inconsistent connections- Drop Wifi and Wired Signals intermittently- Wifi speed that are way below the contracted speed from the ISP- Very often cannot connect on the 5G channel- Found out that there could be a serious security issues affecting that device After numerous re-boots, factory resets and conversation with ISP and Arris Customer support departments, still not performing as advertised. My ISP went all in supporting my account by re-wiring the whole house up to their connection box…… no change. All attempted solutions have failed so far in trying to fix it. My request is to return this device to Amazon for a full credit. Awaiting for

new G34 hooked up today internet and wifi working but when i open surfboard app(yellow) it says “cannot connect to wireless gateway” also idk the login info for the new G34 for the app.  any help is appreciated thank you!

I recently purchased a surfboard model G34. I am looking into extenders. There’s are so many different things to boost the signal throughout my home. Previously we had a netgear modem/router combo with an extender when we just plugged into an outlet in the area we needed to extend the signal to. I am having a difficult time finding one like that that would be comparable with our new modem/router. I am finding mesh systems and satellite items. Do any of these have to have the Ethernet plugged in to boost the signal? Or does it just get plugged into power and connected to the signal and placed where we need it? If I have to have Ethernet I would have to have my service provider come out and install that, I really don’t know. We only have one coax cable coming into our home where the modem currently is.

How do I enable an IPv6 on my Arris G36 and connect it to Xbox

After manually restarting the modem, my G36 Intermittently (every 5 or 6 restarts) drops SSID 2.4 and 5.0 username and password. I have to go back to the dashboard and re-enter the WIFI name and password. My ISP is Xfinity. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I purchased the G34 in December to improve the performance of my Xfinity wifi and it keeps disonnecting while showing it’s connected and 2-3 bars.  My performance is now worse than when using the xfinity router. How can you fix this?SN: [edit: removed personal information]

It will get stuck on “configuration file download” and then restarts the entire process. I noticed that the total flash memory available is only 39 MB. A total of 422 MB of 462 MB have been used. I feel like this is the reason it can’t download the config file and then restarts the process. Is there any way to delete the flash memory or am I out of luck and need a new modem?

It’s a surfboard g34 and will not connect to the internet

My Roku express+ and Surfboard G36 disconnect daily.  I have to do a system restart on the Roku to connect to the G36 and this is becoming troublesome.I’m able to connect the Roku to the G36 successfully, however, randomly they stop communicating.  I asked Roku if it was the Roku device and they said no. because the Roku works correctly when I use my iPhone 15 hotspot.Looking around some suggested I make sure the G36 is set up on “b/g/n” and it is in fact set up on “b/g/n/ax” for 2.4 GHz.  The issue has to be with the G36.  It’s new as of December 2023 and that when this issue started.Any thoughts on a solution?  

  Since mid December I have been experiencing excessive intermittent connectivity with my Arris G36. I replaced what I thought was a defective Fire Stick 4K Max, but after much research it turns out that Xfinity is to blame with their failed upgrade to blah blah blah 4.0.   The newest firmware update that was pushed out to us is garbage and needs to be reverted back to the previously working firmware.
