Can't connect G36 to Xfinity

I am trying to replace my Xfinity cable modem with a G36 but am unable to successfully connect it to the Xfinity network. I tried the self activation using Xfinity’s app and the HFC MAC (both manually and with the QR code) which did not work and then talked with an Xfinity live agent for about 3 hours but still no luck. They say they can see the modem but when I’m on the admin app there is nothing showing in the WAN and signal screens. I factory reset the modem, power cycled, etc. multiple times with the Xfinity agent but nothing worked. I am able to switch it back to the old Xfinity modem and it works fine. The only recourse I have with Xfinity is to have a tech come to the house which will cost $100 but that seems useless since I know the signal is good (because the Xfinity agent switched the MAC back to the old cable modem and it works fine). The problem is definitely the G36. It just flashes blue. Is there any recourse?

I just purchased an setup the ARRIS G36. I done this many times before but this is turning out to be a bit of a nightmare. I tried to use the app to setup the modem/router, but it doesn’t work. It asked me to take a picture of the QR code for easy setup, but the camera appears for moment and then goes away returning a message no valid QR code (although it only gives me 1 sec before doing this.) So then it asks me to log in using the credentials on the bottom of the modem which doesn’t work. Finally I used a browser and the default IP to access the modem and did some web research to figure out the default name and password which isn’t listed anywhere. There was no documentation in the box. So now it is working, but the 2.4 radio only supplies 50-100 mbps speeds compared to 500 using 5ghz. Anyway, I’d like to use the app but absolutely cannot get through the setup stages AT ALL. Wi-Fi name changes on its own and unable to access internet with VPN on G34

My network name keeps changing over the last week, without me doing anything. It changes back to an old name or all of a sudden it has a number 2 at the end of the name. Why? I have a G34 WiFi modem.

G34 secondary wifi not working

I am having problems with my G34. I have it setup with the primary wifi as default name. I have the secondary wifi setup with a custom name. The guest wifi is not used. For some reason the modem will quit broadcasting on the secondary wifi. It will not even show up on the list of available networks. If I go into the setup my setting are still there. Power cycle does not fix it. The only way to make it work again without a factory reset is to disable both the 5ghz and the 2.4ghz. Save the settings. Then go back in and enable both 5ghz and 2.4ghz. Then the modem will broadcast the ssid and work again, This happens every week to 10 days. Any clues as to why this is happening? Thanks Bill

cant keep connection with new g34

I got a new gateway to replace the old one hoping for some quicker speeds and longer range. I called xfinity to activate because the self activate would not work. It wasn't recognizing the hfic. I finally got the wifi to show up on my devices but it shows no internet. Then after about 10 minutes it disappears completely. The front light is a solid blue. None of the ethernet jacks light up. And I tried plugging my computer straight into it with no recognition that it is connected. Is this gateway junk or why can I not connect to it directly?

Renamed wifi now have 2 networks, unable to connect printer

I renamed my wifi, but now have 2 listed home networks ( the new name plus the original ). My tv is connected to the newly named WiFi , but trying to set up printer and it keeps trying to connect to the original wifi name. Should I delete the original, or are they both the same?? new Canon printer not connecting to modem

I bought a new Canon printer because my old one (10-ish years old) worked on the wrong mghz level. How do I connect my new printer to the modem? I’m having trouble with other stuff too, like the SimpliSafe alarm system and Honeywell thermostat. Please advise.

Arris G34 high ping spikes / Puma CPU Related?

I bought an Arris G34 about a year ago and have had mediocre internet assuming it was the ISP because I live in a poorer neighborhood. I recently finished a remodel and had all new COAX installed ( RG6) through out the house to include two CAT6 lines to every room. It wasn’t till I got a roommate who complained about constant internet drops and high ping spikes that I investigated more. My signals are good and this was confirmed by Spectrum. My ping is all over the place and this is confirmed by two different stability tests. Some spikes are over 1,000 ping. Spectrum does list this router/modem combo as approved Spectrum has also issued the most recent firmware for this product. I am aware of the PUMA CPU lawsuit and issues with the Intel PUMA CPU. These ping spikes are reflected on both Ethernet and Wifi for all products connected to this modem/router combo. In fact my wifi hotspot from my phone provides more stable internet connections and comparable speeds referenced below. I am sti

Unable to setup the SBC app on G34

Can you make your parasitic app work and just let me change the name of my router this has been weeks and every step I follow just blocks me for no reason from either logging in or even just connecting to the thing.

Getting pop up in SBC app as lost connection even though its working fine on g34

Just got the g34 router trying to setup the mobile app I did activate it with xfinity have internet using the WiFi the app says it’s connected to router but when a little box pops up saying setting up mobile app another screen pops up saying lost connection to router even though I am still connected to router on WiFi and have internet I have tried hard resetting the router but get the same thing

G36 boots wifi off every 5-10 minutes Xfinity

I have the G36, got it in august 24. It worked fine for about a month and then it started having problems where it would physically restart 2-3 times a day. Then in december it seemed to have fixed itself, and up until early february it worked fine. However now the router doesnt even restart itself and it just kicks off the internet for 5 of seemingly every 10 minutes.

G36 exisits? Upgrade firmware or replace for slow speed

I have a G-36 DOCSIS 3.1 for about 14 months. It’s been working FAST on Cox. However, the past few weeks it’s dropped speed from 550MPS to under 30MPS. COX says it’s an old, outdated modem and want to sell me their own. WHAT? I need to be able to customize port forwarding and other features that if I get a COX managed modem I won’t be able to do that. Is there a firmware updates for this modem? I have read that the updates are ‘automatic’ and some folks experienced a downgrade in performance. How can I tell if my G-36 updated the firmware and what revision should it be at? If NOT, then what’s a good replacement that won’t be obsolete in 15 months?

G36: MOCA not working after replacing cable modem

Hello, I have 2 MOCA 2.5 Motorola adapters installed for years and my cable modem was a Motorola MT8733. One MOCA adapter is connected to my modem in the living room, and the other is in my office upstairs and everything worked fine. My 8733 started having problems that requested me to reset it every other week and today I replaced it with a Arris G36. Wifi is working fine, but the Ethernet adapter in my laptop (connected to a MOCA upstairs using a network cable) has no connection - connection was great when I had the MT8733. I reviewed pretty much all config pages in the G36 and couldn't find something that needs to be configured to make the MOCA connection work. Thoughts? Is there a configuration I would need to change? Should I use a PoE filter? PS: the LEDs on both MOCA adapters behave the same as before, so it's not a link/LAN connection issue.

My service provider is xtream by Mediacom & I've reached out to update my modem/router combo; but was unable to because my ISP doesnt have the newest firmware. My current version is AR01.04. & the newest is AR01.05 which came out in NOV. 2023. Can a new firmware please be pushed out for the G34 & can Mediacom be put in the loop so i can update my firmware. Please.

I installed my G34 and it works well. When I went to set up the iphone app, I was told that I would need to factory reset the unit. Will I need to go through the whole activation process again?

Internet Drops daily on G34 modem

I recently replaced my older Arris modem that was cheaper and had gone out. I bought this one that was supposedly better, but it drops my internet connection on my devices everyday. This is a HUGE problem because I work from home. All devices are wireless except one, but I did not have this issue with my cheaper Arris model. I can only use Xfinity due to lack of providers for my area so I’m stuck with them but this wasn’t happening before I changed devices. I have my computer and a couple other main devices connected to the 2.4G and others connected to the 5.0G do not overloading the 2.4G. I have reset the modem, and disconnected and reconnected devices multiple times. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I have to have fast internet for work.

G36 - GUI Invalid Login Credentials (They're correct)

I keep running into this same issue and there is no apparent resolution. I factory reset the G36. Do the first login and create the new password. I then set the router to bridge mode and it logs me out of the GUI. I then try to login again with the username "admin" and the same password that was configured during the first login. It spits back "Invalid Login Credentials!" I try from a new browser. Same issue persists. I try clearing the cache. Same issue persists. I try from the Mobile app. Same issue persists. I can factory reset the device again and again and only get to the same exact point and yet the same exact issue keeps persisting. I'm not sure what else I can do. Is the software/GUI really just that bad? What am I supposed to do here? I've already gone through this process multiple times with a factory reset so I'm looking for another solution. ​​ result
