G34 | G36

I created the following topic about a month ago: Arris responded to check the downstream and upstream values and that if these were out of the recommended range we would have to contact our ISP. I followed the instructions in the article they shared and the values are all within the range they list. Our internet connection now drops multiple times per day nearly every 20 minutes now. I couldn’t respond to the message on my previous post because it was marked as resolved, but if anything the issue has gotten even worse. 

I just got done speaking to comcast and they are telling me that my G34 surfboard model is outdated. Does this mean it needs and update or does this mean it just will not function any longer? 

Hello,I recently had to reinstall the App, and it now wants me to activate and set up my ARRIS G36 modem-router and ARRIS Mesh W121.  This is all set up and operating fine, but the App is stuck on activating new equipment.  Does anyone know how to bypass this on App so I can see my network operations?Any recommendations would be great. Sincerely, 

WiFi drops out at any time and reconnects the same way 

My original G34 was losing wifi  and hardwire connection daily. I think constantly having to reset caused the button to go bad. I just got a replacement router this week. Now I’m back in the same situation of losing wifi and connection. Before I do a reset sometimes the administrator console will never connect. Before the reset I often have to wait 10 - 20 minutes for it to respond until I reset which will speed things up, but only for a few hours. I only have a couple of wifi devices. Almost everything is network wired. My provider is Spectrum. I’m beginning to suspect there is an incompatibility with the router. Our jobs rely on a reliable router. This router is acting just like the first one. I’m digging into the logs now. there are a few IP6 critical errors. I was going to get support involved but I can’t have the interference during the day. Any first suggestions? G36 drops Wifi connection on all devices daily. Ethernet connected device remain connected to internet? Not and ISP or internet issue I have called for help and they did some troubleshooting, and told me to give it 24 hours and to call back with case number if the problem happens again. However it is 6 hours later and now none of the wifi networks are visible. They show active and working in the arris modem/router portal.. But no network is findable.Every time I search this issue no one has a solution. Just tells the customer to reboot or some lame simple solution that does not work. I should not have to reboot my device on a daily basis. It is 2 weeks since I purchased this item and I have had this issue since I bought it. Either solve this issue or say you can’t so I can return it ASAP. No more lame simple technical troubleshooting. It is not on the ISP end. that should be obvious if you have been reading. It is clear it is on the modem/router end.

After finally getting the Port Forwarding to work again (after firmware update) now I seem to have another issue.  At random times, the 5GHz just “disappears”.  The SSID does not show up in any devices in order to connect.  The 2.4GHz SSID still shows up during these times.  When I login to the router web configuration, it shows that both wifi bands are good (green checkmarks next to them)After continuously messing with this unit for about 5-6 days after the firmware update, I left the Wifi settings to the default (See photo below)DEFAULT SETTINGSNot sure if going back to the Manual channel settings (like I previously did) will solve this.I would occasionally have some slow connection speeds that way, but it wouldn’t just “disappear”.Using a wifi analyzer, it appears that other people’s wifi a

  Hello I was wondering if there was a way for me to track my data usage? I’m using the G36, and I’ve got the surfboard app. My internet provider is claiming that we’ve used disproportionate amounts of data. It seems no matter what we do we always go over the limit and get charged extra, I even added an extra 500G to my plan and we still go over. Our internet habits have changed since the original overcharge, we stream movies way less, which according to Cox was the main culprit. After doing some research people were saying Cox has been known to do this, and after being shown the ACTUAL amount of data used via the owners modem/router provider, they’ll fix themselves and stop trying to scam you. Could be BS I just read on the internet, but I figured it’s worth a shot. Sorry if that was a tangent, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Both the secondary and Guest Wifi have different subnets- 192.168.26.1-x and 192.168.28.1-x. The Login page is accessible through the above (192.168.26.1 and 192.168.28.1).My main gateway goes to a different router for dhcp etc., and I want to have similar settings for the two above.However, the login/ password that I’ve set for the main page does not work for these. I’ve already tried the admin/cusadmin + password too without luck.

The two are connected. My Galaxy S22’s  Wi-FI  is showing “Connected”. It is asking for a Password. These passwords didn’t work: 1. Security Key from Optimum 2. SN on the back of the EX7300.What Wi-FI password do I use for the EX7300 login?  

I just installed the G36 and got the Surboard app working. When I log into the management app using a web browser, the password does not work. The only password I’ve entered during the setup process is the password listed on the back of the ARRIS Quick Start Guide and the Wifi password, nothing else. And yet, when I try to login, I get password failed error.  What’s going on? I saw an article about resetting to the factory setting but this requires having Comcast re-provisioning which was a nightmare. That process took three calls into Support and multiple hours.  What else can be done to reset the password?

How do I change the SS ID name and the Wi-Fi password?

Just bought a G36 on eBay. It came with someone else's settings so I factory reset it. I was able to get WiFi to work just fine but the Ethernet doesn't work quite right. I am able to access YouTube and Google over Ethernet but almost nothing else.

How come when I try to change my Ethernet speed to 1000mbs it always revert back to 10mbs in the router setting?

We purchased a kiln with a smart controller. We haven’t been able to connect the controller to our wifi, so we emailed the controller tech support team. They advised us the controller cannot connect to WPA3, it can only connect to WPA2. I was able to change the security type to WPA2 on the web interface, but the Surfboard app on my phone still shows it’s connected with WPA2/WPA3 Mixed. I still cannot get the controller to connect. I tried changing the security on the app, but nothing happens. Which is accurate, the web interface or the app? If the app is accurate, how can I get this fixed?

Hello,Every couple day, devices that I have connected via WiFi drop connection and I get an error stating that the network is out of range.  I cannot simply reconnect without turning the wifi on ach device off and then back on.  Once I do that it reconnects with no issue until the next couple days go by.  Not a big problem for my tablets and such as I reconnect with each boot up.  The problem is with my constant connections related to security cameras and Echo Devices that monitor constantly.  once the connection is dropped, I have no connection to them throughout the day until I come home and reboot each.  If it was just one device, i would say it is the device….but it is at least 5 devices and it only started after I upgraded to the G34. Any Suggestions on this situation or maybe I have a setting wrong in the G34? Thank you for your help.

Hello - I may be having this issue - not able to connect to wi-fi at home; but I need the information above in layman’s terms.  What settings do I need to check and where do I check them?  Thank you for the assistance. 

I’ve been successfully using port forwarding since I setup my G34 around April, 2023. Lately I’ve had to reboot the device every few days because it completely disconnects from the internet on Comcast/Xfinity. This week, after rebooting, the port forwarding no longer worked. The services themselves still work on the internal network, but external port forwarding through the G34 does not. When I attempt to edit a port forwarding service and click SAVE, I get a pop up Alert window saying Operation Failed (screenshot below). When I try to add a new service, as a test, and click SAVE, there is a new entry in the port forwarding list, but all information is gone (screenshot below).I spent hours on the phone with Customer Support yesterday. After several factory resets and reconfiguration, the port forwarding services through the G34 would sometimes work for up to an hour, and then would stop working again and exhibit the same behavior described above and shown below.

I just bought the G34 series and needed to change my  WiFi  username and password. Only the username changed and every time I needed to add a device  my custom password wouldn’t work except the default. It’s very frustrating, please advise.thxmartins  

I just upgraded to 1Gig on Optimum with Gateway 6. The Arris G34 will not go above the 400 Mbps that it always has. The website shows the G34 works for 1Gig. It will not! Optimum said the G34 was not compatiable. The modem needs to be a Gateway 6. They send me a new  Altice 500g5 Gatgeway 6 and works correctly. 

I’m trying to change the password but the app just keeps spinning and spinning. Also I have download speed of 2gb but speedtest.net is only showing 100MB download. 

Not to hijack this post, but maybe to help OP…I’ve been using the SurfboardCentral app (v4.2.9) to view the status of my modem/router (G34). The app constantly states... ‘access to your network is currently unavailable’. I want to log into the web/gui at 192.168.0.1 to troubleshoot a problem but that seems like it’s only an option if I use a computer with a hardline connection. Is that expected (my other computer is connected to the wifi from my modem/router but will not connect to the web gui)? I tried logging into the web gui using the same login/password that displays from the app’s hamburger menu under Access Web Interface. The credentials don’t work and I’ve tried them several times. I feel like this isn’t a great product and am considering a return. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I went through the troubleshooting steps and got an error on IPV4 address no connection.

On my new Arris G36 I tried to set up Port Forwarding because I run a small self written program to share files between all my devices. I have an old computer running a Tomcat instance and I set up Port Forwarding for 8080. However, I can’t access through a browser unless I completely disable by IPv4 Firewall settings. I can see no option to enable only certain ports
