G34 | G36

I have Spectrum with their modem and separate router. I learned that if their service goes down my LAN does not function. Is that true with the G36? Also one poster said his download speed decreased significantly compared to the Spectrum modem.

Hello - I recently replaced my Comcast gateway with an Arris G36 modem/router, as recommended by various people. I was able to hook it up and establish connectivity to all of the home devices. The G36 doesn’t seem to have the same reach as the Comcast equipment, but in effort to save some money on my monthly bills, I was willing to see it this move will be effective. The only real problem I have relates to the signal not reaching my detached garage/workshop (~30 yards from my house). In addition to the convenience of having a WiFi signal in this space, my garage doors are connected (via WiFi) to the “MyQ” interface, allowing me to open and close the doors, access diagnostics, etc. The G36 simply does not reach the receiver/s. So, I performed some research. I should say that I’m no longer a tech-savvy guy… the world of technology has proven to be much too fast for me these days! That said, I don’t think solving this problem should warrant a degree in networking ;) So, I purchased a “TP-

I did a factory reset on my SBG00DAE36 & it is asking for me to set up a temporary Wi-Fi network. I scanned the QR code on the bottom of the device & it filled the SSID & the WiFi security key that is listed on the label. I click Submit & am told that WiFi is not enabled. I have tried going to 192.168.0.1 on a PC connected to the modem & just get 'No Internet'. I have verified through the Xfinity app that the modem is online per them. At my wits end what to do.

Had several instances where my month old G34 drops my 5.0 band but 2.4 stays unaffected. We’re on Xfinity. Recycling the router reconnects both bands WiFi connection. Any insight on how to prevent the dropping of 5.0?

Have G34 surfboard. Xfinity internet. Stream YouTube TV. When we got everything up and running it was great. Now the last month we are constantly losing internet. Often just restarting the g34 fixes it. So how do I tell if it's the g34 or Xfinity who has the problem?

I have a new G34. I changed the network name, but when I try to change the password, the app thinks for a while and then goes back to the original password. Am I doing something incorrectly? Thanks.

My new Arris G36 is not showing my PC plugged into the 2.5 GB port in connected devices but connects to the internet; my devices connecting to my mesh network do show up in the connected devices page. I can see through my isp’s monitor page that the 2.5 GB port PC is getting an IP to itself on the 2.5 GB port. While the 1 GB port uses the 192.168.x.x ip the modem gives, the 2.5 GB port uses 212.164.x.x ip from the isp. The wan is pulling 146.115.x.x from the IP. In the advanced menu is Mac Bridging; it is not on but it says in Help that it is. “A bridged device will get an IP address directly from your internet provider and not have access to your local network." This sounds like what is happening. Arris Tech doesn't understand and me had to do full resets, etc. Isp has no clue what I am talking about. Anyone know?

Will not connect to network. Orange flashing light. Intermittent port fails preceding total failure.

Comcast Infiniti has come out to my home and verified that my G 36 is not functional I have verified that it has a warranty that expires in May 2024. how do I get a replacement or a refund?

Last night some of our devices were disconnected from the internet. This morning only my laptop could connect. Restarted router and modem twice each. After restarting, nothing can connect. Xfinity had verified that everything is fine on their end. Network name won’t even show up as an option on any of our devices.

Dear ladies and gentlemens, I please send me further instructions of how I can get a replacement for my current G34 modem. Background: I’ve recently called a Xfinity service engineer to figure out why my connections always slows down over the day and finally ends up in an intermittent internet connection. This happened at least once every 24hrs. An investigation by your service team (case number 2308-02902) has already been done on this. The Xfinity service engineer changed the modem to the standard Xfinity modem and suddenly everything works fine. I assume that the Modem has a defect where the cache is not cleaned correctly. It is definitely not the connection to my apartment, because this has been checked several times and is now working fine. PS: the recent upgrade of the firmware made everything worse. Don’t know if it overwrites parts of the cache used for other things before, but it took me about an hour till the connection got established again (but with the same behavior as bef

I created the following topic about a month ago: Arris responded to check the downstream and upstream values and that if these were out of the recommended range we would have to contact our ISP. I followed the instructions in the article they shared and the values are all within the range they list. Our internet connection now drops multiple times per day nearly every 20 minutes now. I couldn’t respond to the message on my previous post because it was marked as resolved, but if anything the issue has gotten even worse.

I just got done speaking to comcast and they are telling me that my G34 surfboard model is outdated. Does this mean it needs and update or does this mean it just will not function any longer?

Hello, I recently had to reinstall the App, and it now wants me to activate and set up my ARRIS G36 modem-router and ARRIS Mesh W121. This is all set up and operating fine, but the App is stuck on activating new equipment. Does anyone know how to bypass this on App so I can see my network operations? WiFi drops out at any time and reconnects the same way

My original G34 was losing wifi and hardwire connection daily. I think constantly having to reset caused the button to go bad. I just got a replacement router this week. Now I’m back in the same situation of losing wifi and connection. Before I do a reset sometimes the administrator console will never connect. Before the reset I often have to wait 10 - 20 minutes for it to respond until I reset which will speed things up, but only for a few hours. I only have a couple of wifi devices. Almost everything is network wired. My provider is Spectrum. I’m beginning to suspect there is an incompatibility with the router. Our jobs rely on a reliable router. This router is acting just like the first one. I’m digging into the logs now. there are a few IP6 critical errors. I was going to get support involved but I can’t have the interference during the day. Any first suggestions? BTW, G34 is a Spectrum compatible router. G36 drops Wifi connection on all devices daily. Ethernet connected device remain connected to internet? Not and ISP or internet issue I have called for help and they did some troubleshooting, and told me to give it 24 hours and to call back with case number if the problem happens again. However it is 6 hours later and now none of the wifi networks are visible. They show active and working in the arris modem/router portal.. But no network is findable. Every time I search this issue no one has a solution. Just tells the customer to reboot or some lame simple solution that does not work. I should not have to reboot my device on a daily basis. It is 2 weeks since I purchased this item and I have had this issue since I bought it. Either solve this issue or say you can’t so I can return it ASAP. No more lame simple technical troubleshooting. After finally getting the Port Forwarding to work again (after firmware update) now I seem to have another issue. At random times, the 5GHz just “disappears”. The SSID does not show up in any devices in order to connect. The 2.4GHz SSID still shows up during these times. When I login to the router web configuration, it shows that both wifi bands are good (green checkmarks next to them) After continuously messing with this unit for about 5-6 days after the firmware update, I left the Wifi settings to the default (See photo below) DEFAULT SETTINGS Not sure if going back to the Manual channel settings (like I previously did) will solve this. I would occasionally have some slow connection speeds that way, but it wouldn’t just “disappear”. Using a wifi analyzer, it appears that other people’s wifi around me are also setup for automatic channel selection, as their SSIDs seem to bounce around from channel to channel depending on the day, which also makes it hard for me to use the Manual setti

Hello I was wondering if there was a way for me to track my data usage? I’m using the G36, and I’ve got the surfboard app. My internet provider is claiming that we’ve used disproportionate amounts of data. It seems no matter what we do we always go over the limit and get charged extra, I even added an extra 500G to my plan and we still go over. Our internet habits have changed since the original overcharge, we stream movies way less, which according to Cox was the main culprit. After doing some research people were saying Cox has been known to do this, and after being shown the ACTUAL amount of data used via the owners modem/router provider, they’ll fix themselves and stop trying to scam you. Could be BS I just read on the internet, but I figured it’s worth a shot. Sorry if that was a tangent, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Both the secondary and Guest Wifi have different subnets- 192.168.26.1-x and 192.168.28.1-x. The Login page is accessible through the above (192.168.26.1 and 192.168.28.1). My main gateway goes to a different router for dhcp etc., and I want to have similar settings for the two above. However, the login/ password that I’ve set for the main page does not work for these. I’ve already tried the admin/cusadmin + password too without luck.

The two are connected. My Galaxy S22’s Wi-FI is showing “Connected”. It is asking for a Password. These passwords didn’t work: 1. Security Key from Optimum 2. SN on the back of the EX7300. What Wi-FI password do I use for the EX7300 login?

I just installed the G36 and got the Surboard app working. When I log into the management app using a web browser, the password does not work. The only password I’ve entered during the setup process is the password listed on the back of the ARRIS Quick Start Guide and the Wifi password, nothing else. And yet, when I try to login, I get password failed error. What’s going on? I saw an article about resetting to the factory setting but this requires having Comcast re-provisioning which was a nightmare. That process took three calls into Support and multiple hours. What else can be done to reset the password?

How do I change the SS ID name and the Wi-Fi password?

Just bought a G36 on eBay. It came with someone else's settings so I factory reset it. I was able to get WiFi to work just fine but the Ethernet doesn't work quite right. I am able to access YouTube and Google over Ethernet but almost nothing else.
