G34 | G36

It's a bad solution, but it worked for me. While the G34 is a great AX wifi6 router (when working) there's a hardware issue cutting the internet (wired and wireless) off. To circumvent this, I installed a sidecar router and only use the G34 in modem mode.. This seems to have solved my issue as far as connectivity but not overall since the G34 isn't doing what it needs to as advertised.. Sucks but it's rock solid now. Hate spending money to fix an issue, but what are you going to do.. Just wanted to let you know.. Very frustrating 

Can't find a device 

Just tried to set up our new G34 and cannot figure out how to reset the network name change the password or set up parental controls with the app. What am I missing? 

when I try to access the admin portal I get the following error:we could not verify the certificate: reason = untrusted dead-ended right there . . . no option to continue; happens with multiple browsers

Modem is a couple of weeks old.  Was working fine.  I went to get into through my web browser like many other times and now this error message stops me cold when I put in my password…."Can not get password for admin from backend!"  What is up?  Tried power off and on. etc.  I have good connection internet with Wowway cable and both 2.4 and 5.0 are fine.  I just cant get in.  

New owner of G36-44F1 and I need to reset router frequently to access my Netflix, Prime, etc…I have a Samsung TV & Phone in case that info is needed. Please advise on what settings I should have everything on. Thanks!

G34 front panel indicator light stays solid amber.After power cycling, still stays solid amber. After reset, still stays amber.Contacted Spectrum and confirmed no Internet outages. But, have no connectivity thru this modem either wifi or direct. Warranty is valid until December 2024. Need help please.Greg 

Lost connectivity with my G34 from my provider WOW.  Have tried a reboot and a factory reset, nothing.  Spent approximately 1/2 hour on the phone with WOW tech support.  They told me that they were not getting a signal back from the modem.  Checked on You Tube and the Ethernet cable connections are supposed to flash after holding the reset button for 30 to 45 seconds, that doesn’t happen.  I have read on the community forum that there maybe a firmware update for the G34 and G36 that provider has but doesn’t download to customers who have their own device.  I have reconnected my old router SBG10 and it works fine.  Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.Barry

I currently have an older Arris model (SGB6580). I recently bought an Arris G34 modem/router. Unfortunately, I did not check with my internet provider to see if the G34 was compatible. I use CableAmerica. They informed me that it is currently in the works for the G34 to be compatible with them, but they were not able to give me a timeline. My question is if there is a known timeline for when the G34 model will be compatible with my provider? I am wanting to know if it is worth holding onto it or just getting a different one. 

I need to reset my Admin credentials as it was changed but lost. What is the best way to do that. Resetting the router did nothing.

Hi allJust got a G36 modem / router (to replace xfinity gateway). Setup seemed to go smoothly, with both xfinity app (to activate device) and the surfboard central app. I entered an email for the surfboard app, and got an emailed 6-digit code, but never set up a password, and things seemed to work fine, at least for my ethernet connected Mac. Wifi has been more sketchy, and it seems things (e.g. TV, other laptop) get dropped.At this point, there are some issues with the 2.4 band not getting internet and I would like to see what I can via the admin page. When I try to log in (after all the Firefox warnings about security risk), I cannot get any password to work? Using the email I originally used with the surfboard central app, what password is supposed to work? The printed password (12 digits) doesn’t work. Any emailed (6-digit) codes don’t work. My password for this site doesn’t work. It says “use the password used by the app” … but I never used one!

I’m having a repeating issue where the 5Ghz network drops and completely disappears.  Only a reboot fixes this issue.  This gateway is brand new and has the latest Comcast 1.05 update. What’s going on?  Is there a fix or this is a hardware failure.  

I just bought the G36. It was working alright until 4 weeks ago. Now constant intermittent freezing. Sparklight's response, today, was that it's the modem/router after updating the Sparklight firmware. The technician that was sent out last Tues, checked all lines and said there was no issue with them. So, who do you believe. "It's no one's problem". 

Hi, I gotta G34 modem/router, and none of my devices (Laptop, cell Samsung S22, samsung tablet) see the 5GHz network. Resetting the router (power cycling) lets it appear for a few hours, but it then disappears. I don't know what is wrong? Please if somebody can help me.

I recently bought G36 and replaced modem I rented from Xfinity. I have 800mbps speed on my Xfinity account and I was able to see such speed during testing with modem I rented. But with G36 I can’t see speed faster 400mbps. Is it the fastest wifi speed I can get from G36? From description of G36 I understood that wifi speed should be up to 2.5 gbps, but I have less then quoter of it. Is there some guidance how troubleshoot and fix it?

I set up my new router for the first time today.  have attempted multiple times to update the password via the Mobile Application – SURFboard Central. The app appears to be processing the change for a flash in the edit pop-up, then edit pop-up closes and the visible password is the old (default) password. I then waited 2 hours to see if it took a little time for the new password to propagate to the router. It has yet to work. I attempted again, still not updating.

2 major problems with my G36. I need to make sure the 2.4Ghz remains saved as well as the WPA2 selection I choose! It's not accepting and saving my changes.  Very frustrating. I've saved sooo many times and it does not stay.

I have a G36 and it is configured to provide both 2.4G and 5G networks. In the router, everything looks fine.  Broadcast network name is checked.However, the 5G network doesn’t show up as being available on any devices. I have even tried to join by specifying the SSID, but it says a network with that SSID is not found.

I constantly have to reboot my cell to make a phone call please advize

My 2.4 band suddenly stops working. It broadcasts but none of my 2.4 devices which are a lot can connect. I've restarted, reset, change security, change channels, bands.... nothing works. Any help will be appreciated. G36

I just have bought Arris G36 several day ago. Today, when I am watching youtube, then SSID  5GHz auto disappear, and I also can’t connect internet. I have to plug out power cord and plug in again is ok. This is new device, but why does it have problem like this? 

I have had considerable issues with my ARRIS G36 Surfboard. The latest issue with the device dropping the 5GHz transmitter, is super frustrating and requires a reboot to resolve.  I submitted a topic on this (see attached) but no response from ARRIS (CommScope).  I wish this was my only issue, unfortunately, it’s not.   

I have a G34 modem/router, and none of my devices (Mac, iPhone, iPad) see the 5GHz network. Resetting the router (power cycling) lets it appear for a few hours, but it then disappears. The 5GHz network appears in the app, and also in the webpage - but none of my devices see it. All devices default to the 2.4 GHz band.My ISP (Xfinity) says it can provide speeds of “Up to 400 MBs”.  Connecting to the 2.4 GHz network yields speeds of <100. Here’s where it gets interesting…I connected an old TP-link wireless router to the G34. It has 2.4 and 5 GHz networks, and all my devices see both networks. Connecting to the 5GHz network via the TP-link, I get

The internet is not just dropping wifi. The 5ghz broadcast is no longer available.It disappears. The 2.4 broadcasts but connects without internet and hardwired devices are disconnected from internet as well. A 30 second reboot is the only thing that corrects the issue. Xfinity app shows the modem as online on the app during this calamity. It's a hardware issue with the Arris gateway caused by an unforseen consequence in regards to the newer xfinity frequencies and how the modem connects to them. It just crashes. Blue screen of death but in router form. 

I have a new G34 and love it. However, it is on one end of the house and the signal strength is weak at the far end of the house. There is a Cat 7 ethernet cable running from the new G34 to the far end of the house, so is it possible to install a second G34 using the ethernet cable and create a Mesh network of sorts, to enable using the same WiFi SSID and seamless handoff? If so, what settings would be used on the host G34 and the satellite G34? Other suggestions?
